I’ve been buying bourbon and tequila / mezcal as I find it on sale…..spent about $1500 the last 2-weeks on what were good deals in normal times.

$21.95 / bottle for Buffalo Trace
$62.95 / bottle for Del Maguey Minero single estate
Plus quite a few more/….

Only the cheap stuff, Seagrams 7, gin, everclear etc.  Things I can barter with when the drinkers need a fix.

I don't even drink and I've picked up a couple bottle of everclear here and there.  I figure it'll get someone drunk for a quarter of the price of anything else.  Seems like an excellent barter buy, and I don't do much of that, to store in the garage.  Might go grab another half dozen bottles.

I remember reading in the thread from the member who went through the collapse in Argentina and he mentioned alcohol being very good barter.

Another thing I’ve squirreled away is a couple of handfuls of jewelry I got at 75% off at Walmart….some of it is pretty nice. A few $600 rings for $150 and $500 earrings for $125 are in there.

I've got a nice reserve but have been trying to find more stock of the particulars like Templeton 10, WhistlePig 10, and EHT Small Batch.

There’s a wine my wife really likes. Sam’s has it at a geat price. I think I’m going to grab a couple or three cases. Attachment Attached File

I started right after the Plandemic started.  I was over 150 bottles before I gave away 23 to a fundraiser for a wildlife group I support.  Added back close to 10 since then.  Picked up a bottle of Russell's Reserve 10 and a Redbreast PX yesterday.  Was really tempted on several others but kind of pacing myself at this point.  Finishing a bottle of JD No. 27 and a bottle of Willet Pot still.  Probably something in the Wild Turkey family is next.

I'm in at $100 a week on the cheapest rot gut anything I can find. Have been for a while. It doesn't freeze and when things go south the drunks won't care.

How is this a gd comment? I drink but I’m not so in need I feel like I would have to stock up on it. Heavy handed moderate much?

What do you call people who stock up on ammo/ parts before a price increase?

Are people who stock up on groceries before a price increase gluttons?

What about people who stock up when something they like / want / need is on sale?  What do you call them?

You may not be an alcoholic, but you should probably stay away from the stuff.  Based on your comment in this thread, your ability to reason seems to already be impaired.

I continue to find quality liquor ar very good prices - and sometimes smokin deals.,  Example : went to Walmart today and they had Knob Creek SB Reserve 120- proof mismarked at $34.95 . It rang up at $43.95 but they let me have a couple bottles at the marked price when I pointed out the pricing on the shelf....It made the best Old Fashion I’ve ever had.

I’m also still buying some of the 1.75l bottles of cheap Vodka, Tequila and blended whisky at Sams and Costco when I go there. Some of it is actually pretty good - but that stuff is bunker storage.

A long time ago I started stocking up on canned foods. Since then, I have learned to stock up on only what I would consume. I refuse to stock up on bourbon or other alcohol that I would not drink.

Too Late.
It has already happened here, or at least for some of the bottles.
Buffalo Trace (Surprised?) is now $55 for 750mL , or $130 for 1.75L. Sazerc is $66 for a 750.
It is now cheaper to buy online than it is to buy local, if they even have some.
At some point (soon I think) people will just stop buying some of these bottles because
the hype has driven the price to the point of insanity. Then what are the merchants going to
do with bottles that no-one wants? (Choke on them I hope)
Making a profit is one thing, but not to the point of your customer
feels like he is getting screwed. That just ensures he never comes back and spreads the word about the bad
ones that are asking ridiculous prices.

I'm an alcoholic, and even I won't touch everclear because it tastes like shit.

Try the "American vodka" at Sam's club, or the "french vodka"; or Kirkland vodka at costco.

Yep. Laying in a case per month of the staples.
The price hikes are coming.

Most of the alcohol that I drink today, I bought in the '90's. ;)
