Has anyone bought a " extended " dipstick for their 5.0 engine? this truck has a super hard to reach dipstick thats only maybe 4" above the engine.  HOWEVER... i test drove a truck a week ago that had a funny looking dipstick with a approx 12" long extended handle on it / was approx a foot taller than the factory dipstick it was bright yellow.

any clue where i can get one of these? i was able to stand flat footed and check the oil with that one, with the factory dipstick i have to climb up onto the tire to get to it.

ETA: I didn't even know this was a thing. But I do know that they seem to keep putting the stick in harder to reach areas.

I got a folding Gorilla ladder on sale at Home Depot. Works great.

Leave checking the oil to your husband.

I’m 5’10”, I can barely reach the dipstick in those. But any actual work on a 4x4 F150 or an Expedition I’m on a small ladder. They are pretty high.

The fuckers at Ford who designed the F150 had zero interest in its consumers being able to access the engine.

At this point I am amazed they dont have some sort of locking device that prevents anyone but Ford mechanics from opening the hood.
