| I've been on jobs where I've heard footsteps with nobody there, seen shadows late at night, but can still come up with a half-assed explanation of something else that caused it other than it being supernatural. I've seen a picture of a spirit of a nun that showed up in demo pictures of a church. I can even half-way explain that one not being real. But has anyone, without a shadow of a doubt (and while sober) seen an apparition? I remember someone on here saying they saw one in the mirror standing next to them, but any others? |

I heard a very distinct fart noise where it was confirmed that no one else was. If there were such a thing as ghosts they wouldn't be all spooky and scary like in movies. There would be mischievous ones that would float above your head all invisible like and fart on you. |

No. I've experienced other things that changed my opinion on the supernatural, but I've never "seen" an apparition. Working 3rd shift caused me to "see" lots of glimpses of stuff on the edge of my vision, but that was probably just my my exhausted brain filling in the gaps... |

We were staying in an old Bed and Breakfast in New England. I awoke to the figure of a revolutionary war officer standing there smiling at me. I picked up my phone, took a picture and he vanished Unfortunately, the phone misfired and the picture did not come out. The spirit was willing, but the flash was weak. |

Our nephew owns a contracting company. He was rehabbing our basement. The wife, kids and I were out all day. When I came home and asked how it’s going, he said, “fine. Your dog has been moving around quite a bit upstairs.” My dog was a 90 pound Rottweiler, who was in his crate, in the garage…. For a while, my 3-4 year old daughter said an older man was in her bedroom, trying to talk to her. Finally, one night, before we brought her to her room, my wife went in and said, “stop talking to my daughter. She’s just a child and you’re scaring her. Stop.” We asked my daughter several times after that, but she said he never came back. |

| I got dropped off at school super early in the morning when I was in middle school. For background, the first graduating class at my school was 1853. I always walked to the second floor and cut through the auditorium to get to where I waited on the steps in front of the band room. I had a weird feeling one morning and looked up at the auditorium stage curtains and there was a white face looking at me from about 15 feet high off the stage. There were two fists under the face that looked like they were gripping the curtains to hold them closed under the face. The face was a older bald man that I had never seen before. I noped out of my usual path and asked one of the janitors that I knew, about the face. He said someone died while putting the rigging up on the stage, many years before. I’m sure that was an apparition. |

Lots of weird footsteps in a particular building. We have one level that I think is haunted. I've seen a ghost light there several times and our nipper has reported seeing a guy in hi-viz walking around in the same spot. There were only three or four guys on site that day and we were all topside or somewhere else. |

100%. A friend of mine killed herself. I took care of her Mom (my wife's boss at the time) and helped put together the funeral and got all of the food together for the celebration of life. It was a few days later, after the funeral, and all of the hubub had died down. I had gotten out of the shower and was brushing my teeth. As I was looking in the mirror, there was my friend behind me...plain as day, in a glowing white mist (not steam from the shower, there was none). She smiled at me and just nodded, like to say thank you. Shocked the crap out of me... as she nodded, she waved good bye still smiling and just faded away. No words. I turned around and there was nothing. Probably less than 10 seconds total. I told her mom about it and she cried and said at least we knew she was ok. I still feel my friend with me every once in awile all of these years later. I have not seen her again like that. Just the one time. |
| Yes I have. I think I've shared it on here on another thread. Back in 2005 I was renting a home in sw Florida. One afternoon I was getting ready for work and was in the bathroom shaving. I saw in the mirror what looked like a person pass by outside the bathroom door. I cleared the house and didn't find anything. I had a Jack Russell and she wouldn't go in the spare bedroom where our son slept. She'd sit in the living room and stare at my son's bedroom. About 3 am one night my son came in the bedroom crying and said the old lady scratched his back. He had scratch marks running down his back from between his shoulder blades to his waist. He slept on the living room couch until we moved. |

<---had done paranormal investigations for a few years. Have a couple interesting evps, a broomstick hit me in the leg from across the room (alone in room and broom was at least 10' away), couple shadows and mists. A co-investigator and I both saw a shadow figure popping in and out of the trees behind us when we turned around while heading back to the cars. Think it was making sure we left. As for orbs, I would say 99% of them are dust or bugs. Anytime I hear "I got photos of orbs" I just shake my head. Same when a woman said she has a photo of a civil war soldier in the sidelight window of her front door. You can "see" it if you blow the photo up by 500%. Tried to explain that its just pixels in the photo but she still insisted. Same as the room she says she feels funny in and has had books falloff the shelf. EMF readings in the room were very very high. Found that the circuit breaker box is right under the room and in the basement the emf was even higher around it. EMF can affect people if they are sensative to it. As for the books falling off the shelves, well the books were around 7-8" deep and the shelf was 4". Walking across the floor in that old house shook it a little and a book will fall off eventually. Most homes we did I could find an explenation for the "events". Most the people that lived there were happy we found a probable cause for their "haunting". Some just wouldnt beleive us because they wanted the house to be haunted. My position in the group was investigations, security (mainly to keep the guy in charge from doing stupid shit) and going through the photos and videos. Unfortunately the group pretty much dissolved due to the guy in charge being stupid with things like pissing off the "clients" by doing things he was specifically asked NOT to do (like provocation, posting photos of the place in social media when asked not to and the biggie posting up the house address), making fun of some of the members of the group and doing investigations on his own in places he never got permission to be in. Lucky for him (and the 2 other idiots who went with him on those "investigations" they never got arrested. Last investigation we went on was 4yrs ago. He wanted to get more gear like video cams, Rem pods, ir and some more gear like Ghost Adventurers has but he didnt want to pay for any of it. Wanted everyone else to buy it and leave iit as his house. |
| Not me personally, but my grandmother who was straight as an arrow did one time. She just woke up from a nap and saw a figure standing over my grandfather, looking down at him as he sat in a chair. My grandfather was superstitious, so she didn’t want to say she saw a ghost, but she was able to ascertain that the ghost was probably his grandmother. My grandfather died of a heart attack unexpectedly within the week. |

No, not without a doubt, but here's my story. The first 10 years or so we lived in our house, I would occasionally- maybe once or twice a year- look up from my recliner in our den, and get a flitting glimpse of a shadow like figure- like a blur- that was like looking around the door facing to the hallway and would pull back fast as lightning when I would look up. I got the feeling it was a figure of a little girl about 5 years old wearing a long dress, or like girly nightclothes. This was always in low light, and after say 9:00 pm. Honestly, I was perplexed, and curious more than scared because I really hadn't 'seen' anything. I marked it down to tired eyes, and light & shadows and just exhaustion playing tricks on me. I never mentioned it to my wife because she adamantly avoids discussion on 'silly' topics like ghosts, etc. Well, my wife's mom was a schoolteacher. Very level headed woman, intelligent, and not a nutcase. She was almost at retirement age, and got cancer of the uterus. The surgery, and treatments for it really messed her up. She moved in with us until she could get back on her feet. Consequently, she spent a lot of time in our den. One night my wife had gone to bed, and just me and the MIL were in the den. We got along well enough, and had good solid conversations. I was scrolling on my phone, and she was doing needlepoint, or crocheting, or something like that. It was not dark, but lower lighting. I had a soft table lamp on near me, and same for the MIL. The TV was on, at low volume. I looked up from my phone- and had the phantom experience- I froze staring intently at the door frame across the room maybe 20' away for several seconds. Then I looked over at my mother in law- and she was looking directly at me and she said "you see her too". I felt chills go up my spine when she said 'her' because that meant she saw the same thing I had, and had the same impression even though I had never shared it with her, or my wife. She told me in the year or so she had been at our house she had seen a small girl-child like shadow flitting around that door frame on several occasions. So, I wouldnt chalk that up as a definite sighting, but it did/does give me pause. Outside of that, I haven't ever seen anything. |

There's a very common sleeping mental state that is sort of like sleep paralysis. You perceive yourself as awake and eyes open, lying face up in bed... and there's the vague outline of someone standing next to the bed. Sometimes they walk around the bed. Sometimes they just stand there. The first time it happens, it usually sends people running, screaming out of bed. Never happened to me, but it was in one of my psych texts. When I say "very common," there are thousands of almost identical reports to shrinks every year. The people it happens to... it tends to show up over and over for them. Sometimes referred to as "Shadow People" sometimes "Night Terrors." |

Not me personally, but my dad, yes. Funny thing is he’s about the least superstitious guy I’ve ever met. He says he doesn’t really believe in ghosts but cannot deny what he saw. And his story has never changed. Many years ago my dad was attending Spokane Falls Community College. To get home he had to drive through a cemetery that is on either side of the road. The cemetery is called Greenwood Memorial and the road is S Government Way. One night while driving home from night classes, while passing through the cemetery, he glanced in his rear view mirror and saw a man dressed in 1920’s clothing, wearing a hat sitting in the back seat of his car. He slammed on the brakes and almost went into the ditch. When he turned around to look in the back seat, no one was there. For the next few weeks he went home the other way ( can’t remember the name of the road but it’s up the Bloomsday Doomsday Hill). Eventually he started going through the cemetery again and never saw anything unusual. |

I don't remember it but apparently I did when I was five, the night my grandmother died. My folks never said anything about it until I think I was in college. One day they asked if I remembered coming into their room the morning she died and telling them Gaga (my grandmother) had told me that everything was going to be OK. My grandfather called them about ten minutes later and told them she'd passed away (breast cancer in the '70s). I have no recollection of it but it apparently kinda freaked my folks out. Not apparitions, but I've seen some things I can't explain, including on some death scenes. Doesn't mean they were paranormal, at best I'm skeptical of the paranormal, just that I couldn't explain them.

| Another one i just remembered was back in the early 1980s. I was driving a friend of mine home after a basketball game in NW Florida. Later I learned after doing genealogy my friend and I were distant cousins. We came around a bend in the road near his house (rural area) and we saw an apparition of an old man on the shoulder of the road. This was in a location there was rumored to be a hanging tree back a long time ago. It scared the crap out of us. I never mentioned it to anyone until I ran into my friend one night about 15 years later with my wife in Pensacola. After meeting my friend my wife said he looks like a native American. He and I are both of native American descent. He passed away about 10 years ago. |

My daughter used to when younger She would talk about "white man", guy in all white He wouldn't hurt or scare just stand watch. Sometimes wave goodbye. Years later the wife was looking through photo albums and my daughter stopped at a picture of an uncle that died 5 years before my daughter was born. She asked my wife "why is white man in your album". Creepy as hell I've seen light switches turn off and on over and over again. TV turning on at max volume in middle of night. Books flying off a shelf and coming like it was flung, not fall. |
| Not exactly an apparition, and wasn't me, but my dad. He was washing dishes or something, when all of a sudden he was standing outside in the snow, watching an old man chop wood. Just as suddenly he was back washing dishes. He was so upset he had to sit down. He said is was so real, and he had no explanation. He was telling the truth. |

I can't remember if I've shared this here before. Back in the fall of 1989, I was in West Germany on a physical security site standing towers. I had just got out to tower 3, in an hour I'd be relieved and bump down to tower 4, and and hour after that it would be to tower 5. So, on this side of the site we had those 3 towers about 100 meters apart. Outside the towerline there were two dirt Forest Meister roads. One just outside the fence and completely visible by less than 10 yards and another about 50 meters into the forest. It was partially obscured but during the day you'd be able to see a car driving on it and at night the headlights were very obvious. Anyway, on this night, I could hear a deuce-and-a-half driving on that second road. I didn't see any headlights off hand but I could definitely hear the truck. Looking closer, I finally spotted blackout drive lights moving through my sector. Per orders, I called the sergeant of the guard and reported the vehicle. I asked if we were expecting anyone or any sort of a drill. The answer was no and the site was quietly put on alert. The guard in tower 4 was looped in on the field phones and as the vehicle moved down the road and toward their tower he reported he could hear the truck and see the blackout lights. It slowly passed his position and tower 5 was looped in. He reported he didn't see or hear anything, and no vehicle had exited the route (tower 5 could see the exit of the road onto the hardball.) Tower 4 reported nothing had come back his way. Nothing came back past me either. To be clear, that road had one entrance and one exit, there were no turn-offs along the stretch that passed our site. The sergeant of the guard put together a response team and they rolled out in 2 humvees to investigate. They were driving with full headlights and with those on I could see them as they entered the woods. They followed that road all the way past my tower before turning around and heading back to the SSCC. Nothing was found on the road. No vehicle, let alone a deuce. Later, one of the old timers told me that was the "Ghost Deuce." Rumor had it that during the 1960's, not long after our site had opened, a deuce with a load of infantry men were practicing a reinforcement drill at night, driving on blackout lights, hit a stack of logs on that road and rolled over killing a bunch. There were other weird things on that site and in our barracks, but the Ghost Deuce is one that I actually saw, with a witness. |
| I was a Leo for 27 years. Our guys would escort rocket boosters down to cape Canaveral on the night shift. One night some guys were doing an escort and saw an apparition they described as a shadow figure on the side of I10. The location was where a crash had occurred where a truck ran off the road and hit a tree and the driver burned up. |
| I did regular maintenance on a house built in 1919 that was a rental property on a College campus. A couple of times while working in the house is saw a shadow figure of an adult from my peripheral vision. I kind of ignored it until one time it was kind of in plain sight moving up.a staircase. I never felt afraid so it ne er bothered me and I never mentioned it to anyone. One time I had a contractor crew (painters) at the house and they were there a few days. I went in t9 check on progress and the Boss man asked if I had ever seen anything "unusal" at the house. I asked " you mean the shadow guy ? ". One of the older guys put down his roller, said something in Spanish, and walked out of the house. Boss man said " for real" and I shrugged and told him it never bothered me,but, yeah I've seen.it. He told me the old guy saw it plan as day. |

The night in the early 80's when my grandmother passed in the nursing home at around 1:30 AM I was about 14 years old and had awoken in my bed at home and didn't know why I had awoken. I had a drink by the bedside, but was not thirsty, didnt need to go to the bathroom either. I just woke up, and was lucid, and lay in the dark and thought random, peaceful thoughts. After a time, the phone rang in the house and I assume my mom picked it up as it rang maybe twice. This was not unusual, as my mom was a night owl, and she regularly talked on the phone/received calls late at night. But I suddenly knew in my heart what that phone call was. My Grandmother was not on the really critical list, but had had 2 strokes and could theoretically go at any time. My mom spent most of her days seeing about my grandmother, visiting, and making sure she was getting good care, etc. but we were not expecting her to pass at that time. I heard a knock on my door and my mom came in and said are you awake? I said yes, I'm awake, is it Grandma? My mom said yes, she just got the call that she had passed. So, I was not visited per se, but I have always felt there was some connection there that made me wake up. |

. had some eye issues and ended up with some massive floaties in the field of vision of one quarter of one eye before that, I was highly skeptical of people who saw apparitions after, it was easy to mistake various shadows and light areas from the floaties as objects, people, or even ghosts it's sorta funny how the mind wants to identify (see) visual artifacts as if it's all a literal rorschach it took a while for the eye to mostly clear, although there are some conditions where I still see "artifacts" at the edge . |
| 1983; One night I was headed south on I-75 in Cleveland Tennessee, running about 70 mph. I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye of what appeared to be an elderly person walking on the shoulder of the road. The reason I say elderly is because they were humped over like walking with a cane. You have to remember, in 1983 I was driving a 1968 Olds 442 and it had very dim incandescent headlights so my glimpse was very brief. I lifted my foot from the accelerator but by this time I was probably 150 yds beyond the figure and besides that a car had already pulled over right about where I was so I felt safe knowing someone had stopped to help. The next day on the news they reported an elderly woman had been hit and killed on I75 last night after she and her husband had an argument and she got out of the car and started walking. True story. |

My parents lived across the state from us kids. One day Dad calls and says Mom is dying of lung cancer, and is going into hospice. Embarrassment, shame, not wanting to be a burden. Who knows. But she didn't want to tell us. Anyway, that night I woke from a dead sleep to see my now frail mother in a nightgown standing in my bedroom doorway. All I could think to say was "I'm ok". Then she was gone. A couple days later I got up to their place, and there she was. Exactly as I had seen her two nights before. In the words of the Late Great Charlie Daniels, "There's some things in this world you just can't explain". |

Once I saw something that was darker than darkness. As soon as I looked directly at it, it moved away very smoothly where I could no longer see it. Scared the shit out of me, I was about 14, and I was staying there with no other place to go at the time. This in was a dumpy house in Huntington Beach that was owned by an old drunk lady that rented rooms. It was kind of a party house, and every species of degenerate, weirdo, ex-con, and speed freak lived there and hung out there. What a sewer that whole scene was. Sometimes I wonder if that whole deal was what Christians would call demonic. Eta, I was completely awake, and sober. I was sitting on the couch talking to the old drunk lady that owned the place. She was facing the other direction though. |

100%. I seen a full body apparition one night sitting on the couch. I couldn't sleep so I got up and was sitting in the dark with a street light shining through the window. I thought my youngest daughter walked by to go to the master bathroom. It reached the bedroom door, turned around to face me and vanished. This wasn't my first ghost but this one was very clear. |

This. Just the other day I was driving in a rainstorm. Out of the corner of my eye, the water droplets flowing along the side window kept catching my attention. For something to do (it was a long drive), I decided to play a silly mental game by pretending it was some sort of apparition - like the poltergeists that came out at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, or flying mermaids or whatever.... Later as it got dark, the rear window wiper would interrupt the headlights of the cars behind me, and it was easy to imagine something going on there too.... UFOs, swamp gas, weather balloons... Once I started pretending that I was seeing some sort of paranormal shit, it was pretty amazing how easily my mind went along with it. That's what our brain does - it takes seemingly random inputs from our eyes and ears, and tries to turn them into more familiar things. |
