| When I was 19 back in 72. Was sleeping in my bedroom and woke up one mornibg about 1:am. Was completely awake . There was a lav and a mirror on the wall down past the foot of the bed, I was laying on my left side on the left side of the bed. I looked toward the lav and mirror and seen a guy standing in front of the mirror buttoning his sleeves on his shirt. He turned around and looked at me and departed through the bedroon door. I got out of bed and went into the living room to see where he was. Search the whole house and found no one. Doors and windows were all locked with a chain lock on the inside. Do believe it was sone kind of apparition. Was kind of freaked out about it, and still my hair on the back of my neck stands up when thinking about it. |

Quoted: There's a very common sleeping mental state that is sort of like sleep paralysis. You perceive yourself as awake and eyes open, lying face up in bed... and there's the vague outline of someone standing next to the bed. Sometimes they walk around the bed. Sometimes they just stand there. The first time it happens, it usually sends people running, screaming out of bed. Never happened to me, but it was in one of my psych texts. When I say "very common," there are thousands of almost identical reports to shrinks every year. The people it happens to... it tends to show up over and over for them. Sometimes referred to as "Shadow People" sometimes "Night Terrors." I've experienced something similar, except I could feel someone sit on the bed. Usually happened within the first 30 minutes of going to bed. I was talking to a guy at work about it and said it was caused by a vitamin deficiency. He was right, started taking a multivitamin and it hasn't happened again. I've heard this referred to as a visit by the old hag. I never saw anything, just felt it. |

Several times. Once in the house, clear as day, about 2 in the afternoon walking past a window. Looked like a person walking past the window. Came inside, no one was here. About 10 years ago, I was at a friend's and we were loading magazines as we were going shooting the next morning. I'm sitting on the couch, loading AR mags when I look up and see a black figure across the room. I make a comment to my friend and he takes off after it and goes outside with a handgun, Says nothing. I grab the closest rifle, which is my M16 which has a light on it. Chamber and round and I go after him out the door. He thought it was someone trying to break in, so we are searching the outside of the house at 1:30 am looking for the intruder. After we search the inside and outside, he asks me exactly what I saw. He reacted the way he did because he had issues with meth heads trying to break in before. I am pretty sure I saw a shadow figure. There is also a ghost cat in the house, multiple people have seen it in very specific places. It's translucent and is only visible for short periods of time. |

My grandpa was a teenager and working on a farm. On a day that he didn’t work, two friends of his were killed while working inside a grain bin. The next time he went to work he said he saw them playing cards in the barn. He said he spoke with them and they just disappeared. He said he wasn’t scared of what happened, he said it was just peaceful. |

Quoted: Again, yes. I was actually the last tower to walk off the site on the last day of operations. Came down out of Tower 5 and walked out the main vehicle gates, which were both open. Very weird experience. Quoted: Quoted: . were you there when the site closed just before desert storm? . That's wild. |

Something. About 12 years ago, on a fall Sunday night my GF & I were sitting inbthe living room watching a program. Lights were on but dimmed. A flash, like a camera flash went of at the kitchen window, over the sink. I saw it, she saw it, the dog saw it. I had a pistol with an old style Surefire light and was outside immediately. There was nothing, no one. Our yard was big enough that a person couldnt just disappear. I came back to the window and the damp grass showed no footprints, not matted down, no evidence of anything. Freaked me out. |

Apparently when I was little… yes. a few quick stories. I’ll try to make the last one quick… but I could go on for a while taking about that. My mom told me a story that when I was about 4 I woke up crying and she and my dad came in the room because I was freaking out. I told them a man was patting my head and I described what he was wearing and that he talked funny and what and he said to me. My mom said she turned around and my dad was white as a sheet. Apparently, I told her he called me a name that my born in Ireland and had a heavy Irish accent grandfather(which died before I was born) used to call my dad when he was a boy. Second story…I wasn’t much older than the first story and this one I kinda remember. my dad was out plowing and I was laying on the couch with my mom… I looked up the steps and said there was a man holding my stuffed animal “Oreo”. It was a big black and white stuffed dog. My mom looked up and the stuffed animal was sitting at the top of the steps. She said she just carried me down the steps a few minutes before that. My mom got the CB and called my dad in from plowing… he was only a couple blocks away and made it home. She was convinced there was someone in the house. My dad grabbed his .38 from under the sofa(it was the early 80’s) and he and his buddy cleared the second floor of the house… nobody was there obviously. There was a man that killed himself in the back bedroom years before we moved in. There were other things that happened in that house that my mom wouldn’t tell me about. When I was in my mid-late teens and early adulthood… my best friend lived in a funeral home. Her dad was a funeral director… they lived on the 2nd and 3rd floor… the shit we saw and heard in that house… it still gives me goosebumps thinking about it. We’d hear screaming and banging coming from the other room… walk in and drawers would be open and the contents laying all over. We’d clean up and put it back and leave the room. Then it would start all over again… as soon as you’d open the door to the hallway that led to the room, everything we’d be hearing would stop. We’d go back in and everything would be open again and laying on the floor maybe two minutes later. Lights would turn on and off… and when I say lights I mean lights with a dimmer switches that you had to physically twist and click on/off. They’d go bright/dim/bright/dim or you could hear them audibly click on or off. Her dad said he would get pulled out of bed by his feet regularly. We were sitting there watching tv the one night and there was a big heavy glass ashtray sitting there and it just shattered. On top of the entertainment system (late 90’s) there was a row of small pictures in frames then large pictures along the back behind the smaller ones. We heard a bang and walked in from the kitchen and all the large pics were laying flat, face down on the floor in front of the entertainment center and all the small pics that were in front of them were still exactly where they were. You’d hear footsteps “running” through the house. That house would make anyone a believer. I also have a couple pics I took while on “ghost hunting” tour years ago at eastern state penitentiary that I can’t fully explain. |

Yes. In college I lived in a haunted house. Always hearing noises, seeing shadows out of the corner of the eye, things falling. The feeling of being watched. I lived there with my girlfriend (who is now my wife) and a few roommates. Well, one night I woke up and had to use the bathroom. A regular weekday night. No drinking or anything. I walked downstairs to the kitchen to head to the bathroom which was in the back of the house. As I stepped into the kitchen I looked towards the back door. As I watched an apparition was, I guess, forming? Kind of becoming more clear out of a misty haze. It was a woman in a dress from probably the late 1800s. Full length. As it began to get clearer, I got the feeling I didn’t want to see her face, so I headed back upstairs hastily. Jumped back in bed and my girlfriend asked why I was freezing cold. I just brushed it off and never told her until we moved out. That house was weird as hell and ended up being abandoned and condemned a few years later. |

They apparently never saw anything, but my mom and her younger sister still agree today that a house they lived in as teenagers was haunted. This was on Walnut Street in Gadsden, AL in the late 1950s. It was a Victorian-style house that my grandparents bought in an estate sale or something like that. An elderly lady had previously lived there, and died there. The house was partially furnished with period furniture and other decorations when purchased, some of which is still in the family. My mom and my aunt swear that many times they would hear a handbell ring. By that, it was a handbell that the previous owner used to summon her maid. That handbell was in a locked China cabinet on the top shelf, and couldn't be accessed (even with the key) without making some noise. They said that this bell would ring at random times, day and night. They also said other small items here and there around the house would be relocated. |

Quoted: Maybe shadow figures I used to see things out of my peripheral that looked like someone walking into or out of a room. Sometimes it was just a dark "shadow person" and sometimes it looked like colored clothing. The one that really spooked me was seeing a person walk into the laundry room in my parent's basement. Usually I just double take and go "damn, I'm fucking tripping" but this time I grabbed a fucking pipe and went to investigate. I'm like "no fucking way I actually saw that" but obviously must have believed maybe I did. I go look, sure enough, nothing. "goddamn bro, I'm fucking tripping BALLS! What the actual fuck?" And I'd see these weird light anomalies just outside my center line of sight that looked like little portals opening up. They'd rapidly change colors and spin counter/clockwise. Only lasted a second or two. Neither of these has happened to me in years though. But they happened a lot until I was maybe late 20's. |
| I woke up one night and opened my eyes. Quickly focused on a dark, yet bright yellow orb slowly passing my open bedroom door, right to left. Mid body level if it were a person. I sat up and yelled what the F$&k. As I did that in one quick motion it shot straight up. As it went, it got smaller and smaller. And the light got fainter, until it disappeared in the ceiling. I sat upright in disbelief for a few mins, until my body told me to move. Turned the light on, and sat for a few more moments. Got up and cleared the upstairs, all was normal. I really wish I could describe the light better, but it is near impossible to describe what it actually looked like. Nothing I have ever seen before. |

Recently I've seen movement out of the corner of my eyes. Dark shapes. But, none of that happened before I started wearing glasses, and most of the time I can get it to repeat itself by moving my head around the same way. It's the occasional ones I can't get to repeat that are creepy, but since this never really occurred before the glasses, the likely explanation is it's the glasses. |

Saw one at the Stanley Hotel in the billiard room about 10 years ago. was a woman in a long dress. Saw another about 52 years ago at the Devil's Promenade bridge over Spring river east of Quapaw, OK. I've seen the Spook Light outside Joplin several times, once near my house east of Miami, OK. Had no explanation for either, other than local legends. |

Apparition, no, shape shifter, yes. Other stuff, yes. The shape shifter was by far the clearest and creepiest. In a hotel in Florida. I hear what sounds like a fire alarm (the household kind) chirping in the hallway. It’s maybe about 11:30pm. I open the door and listen for a while…nothing. Close the door, it starts up again. Repeat. I call the front desk and ask if they could send somebody up to fix it. About 20 mins go by and I’m still hearing this noise. I decide to go outside and wait to see where it’s coming from, after which my plan is to tear it off the wall or ceiling. I’m standing in the hallway in my boxers, listening l and again, when I’m outside I don’t hear anything. I’m at the end of a hallway that’s maybe about 60 or 70m long, I don’t remember, it’s been a while. The elevators are on the far end. So after standing there like an idiot for maybe 5-10 mins I turn around to go back to my room. I get to my little alcove and decide to turn around one more time. I turn and lean against it and at the far end I see this “thing” morph from this nondescript square shape up into a triangle, glide one direction, then back in the other and as it does it slowly becomes a human shape as it takes a stride out of view towards the elevators. It was fairly far away but it looked like it was covered in brown/tan carpet-like hair. Freaked me right the F out. I went back in the room asap. No more chirping for the rest of the night. I know because I didn’t sleep. Got the heck out of there the next morning, taking the stairs of course. |

When I was around 6 or 7, staying at my dad’s for the weekend - his waterbed was busted so we were in the spare bedroom with the door open. Just as the sun came up, I woke up, looked over my dad, and saw 2 young girls in Victorian era nightgowns walking down the hallway. They spoke to each other but don’t remember what they said. Still a vivid memory. |

No I have not. Only ghost story I have in recent history is people claimed a rural station was haunted. They said the deceased volunteer nurse ( whose faded picture was still up commending her service) would tickle/ tug on people’s feet. I chalk that up to superstition and coworkers screwing with each other. |

Quoted: Second hand story. Had a friend years ago who was in a bad car crash. A witness stopped to help and was asking him where his passenger was, thinking they'd been thrown from the car. He swore he was alone. They swore there was someone in the passenger's seat. Private Malone saved him. |

No, but as a little kid I woke up one night and saw a purple gorilla looking in my window. I was so freaked out I ran into my parents room and woke them up to tell them. I was so convinced at what I saw my father had me describe it while recording it on an audio tape. This was pre 1975 so it was prior to the "The Great Grape Ape Show". |
| I walked into my duplex in Norfolk, VA one evening and there was a woman standing in the doorway at the end of the hallway just inside the bedroom. She was wearing a long sleeved full length black dress with a white apron, hair up in the style appropriate for the era the house was built. She smiled, then looked confused, turned and stepped out of view. I didn't sleep well for a week. |

I've never seen anything myself, and I'm the type that finds graveyards at night very quiet and peaceful. Working nights in various medical facilities over the last two decades, I can say the following is true: - I have been pulled into a no-nonsense facility-manager's office, and asked if I had ever experienced anything unusual working mostly by myself at night. I informed her that no, I hadn't. I had to ask why she asked, of course. She reported multiple staff working late at night seeing figures walking the halls after closing time. The staff initially were thinking they were confused patients who had gotten lost/trapped after the doors were locked, but no one could find them. Multiple staff who worked different shifts and never interacted with each other were reporting the same description of an elderly fat individual in bib coveralls. Facility had been built on an old farmstead due to urban sprawl. - My extremely autistic and non-verbal friend called me one night I was off work. She was the cleaning contractor that worked the first part of my shift. Over time, she had gotten to know me and we had became friends. She abso-fucking-lutely hates talking on the phone. She calls out of nowhere, asking if I was in the building. I was at home 35 miles away, and told her so. She said that she had just seen a figure outside my office that vanished in front of her, and that no one else was in the building but her. - Every medical facility I have ever worked in has had reported sightings. Always seen/reported by very trustworthy people who don't play games. |

“Seen an apparition” yet hears footsteps & sees “shadows….” I literally almost got a goosebump….so……odd. Most hunting accidents I’ve operated on, one hunter “swears to God it was an animal & not a man…”. In one case it was a teen kid, and he died. Maybe some people are just wired in a way they see “things” & have their “magical thinking brain” that uses magic to explain everything. Angels, ghosts, gods, spaceman Spiff & “the Devil made me do it…” |
| I work in telecom in an old Bell Telephone building that was built in the 1920s, myself and my coworkers see stuff frequently. Most of the time it’s a shadow out of the corner of our eyes or we hear footsteps and doors opening and closing. Things also go missing and reappear in random other parts of the building. The craziest incident my coworker and I had was two years ago on Christmas Eve. We were sitting at our group of desks when both of us saw a 7ish foot tall black figure walk down one of the aisles then it turned into the equipment and disappeared. It acted like it didn’t notice us at first and we startled it causing it to turn away from us. Whatever it was it was not translucent and blocked out the led lights etc on the equipment. |

Maybe some people are just wired in a way they see “things” & have their “magical thinking brain” that uses magic to explain everything. Angels, ghosts, gods, spaceman Spiff & “the Devil made me do it…” I used to study those shootings specifically as part of work. Those are a case of the brain is looking for something specific like a deer. Sees movement or shape and the brain is convinced it sees what it is looking for. Kind of like sitting on your stand as it gets light and you think you see a deer standing in the brush or in the wood line but as you get more light it’s more and more apparent it’s something else and your brain conjured it up from what it saw. In the infantry you’d get the same thing sitting in the defense on watch. Edit,…another significant cohort is hunters of advanced age and lessening eyesight. Worse hearing too, some half deaf. They tend to misidentify targets more often. I once was tasked with giving a “sing for your supper” public talk at a sportsman’s club installation banquet and part of my talk on hunting safety was the recent release of a multistage study and I talked about the accidents that were often associated with the young and inexperienced and also the aging hunters. That was a little awkward looking about the room when I was looking at nearly all the occupants were 50 and most over 70. |

As kids me and 2 siblings saw red glowing eyes in the closet of the "kids" room. We did not know the others saw them as we would grow up and move to other places in the house and all 3 of us told our parents and they said it was just our imagination ignore it. It was not till years latter as adults we found out we all saw the same basic thing 2 red glowing orbs about 4" apart that did not move independently of each other. No sound only up and down and side to side movement that never left the opening of bifold closet doors. |

The wife and I saw a bipedal hairy flat faced creature running alongside our car at 35mph in Utah. It put its face up to the passenger side window where the wife was sitting and we could see its eyes then it vanished. A decade later I read some article about "skinwalkers" and realized maybe those Indians were onto something. |

Quoted: This. Just the other day I was driving in a rainstorm. Out of the corner of my eye, the water droplets flowing along the side window kept catching my attention. For something to do (it was a long drive), I decided to play a silly mental game by pretending it was some sort of apparition - like the poltergeists that came out at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, or flying mermaids or whatever.... Later as it got dark, the rear window wiper would interrupt the headlights of the cars behind me, and it was easy to imagine something going on there too.... UFOs, swamp gas, weather balloons... Once I started pretending that I was seeing some sort of paranormal shit, it was pretty amazing how easily my mind went along with it. That's what our brain does - it takes seemingly random inputs from our eyes and ears, and tries to turn them into more familiar things. I don't believe in ghosts and ghouls but I did record this when I was home alone years ago. Just got the ankvrs recorder and was making a video quick to make sure it worked. I didnt see anything actually. Until I checked the recording. I heard dishes shift in the sink and turned to look. Saw nothing. But in the recording somethings at my sink. Not sure. Reflection maybe. Probably something mundane but I tried to recreate and couldn't. Only unexplained video/pic I've ever taken. Attached File ![]() Ghost/figure/thing? caught on PVS14 |
