I wouldn't bet on it. If they aren't immediately scared off, an airsoft gun is going to do far less to them than even a rudimentary blunt instrument. It slightly stings but that's it. You'd have substantially better odds with a harbor freight hammer.

Some crazy youtuber needs to upsize an airsoft to be lethal. Like 600 grain pellets at 1000 fps or something totally crazy. Probably get crazy baseball like curveballs from time to time though.

Thing is, what is your goal?
Do you want to kill? Deter? Are you worried about hurting pets and/or loved ones in the home? Are you worried that in our Clown World, cops and DA gonna charge you with murdering an intruder? Check out this movie clip (fast forward to 1:15):  The Perfect Guy (2015) - Lesson in Self Defense Scene (8/10) | Movieclips He recommended she put the first two shells in the shotgun as "bean bag" shells and the rest your standard shells of choice (buckshot, slug, etc.)....so, if you wanna consider bean bags a "warning" shot - where you still have the heavy duty stuff lined up next, that seems pretty cool...IMO. But, this is the thing...if someone is in your house, this isn't the time to play. Once they decide to come in, IMO, they made up their mind that they are ready to kill you and whomever is in their way. And,now a days they travel in packs (two or more of them). And, last thing you want to do is lose your only opportunity to put them down with an "air shot". Find out the laws of your state (i.e. I think in Ohio, as long as they are in your home, no need to prove you had a reasonable fear, you can fuking kill them); and, seriously consider what your goals are. Get proficient in a weapon of choice and always have pepper spray handy....cuz like how things can come down to hand-to-hand fights and you can't reach your weapon in time, pepper spray can help better than a tazer. Also hire a professional and/or take the time to study your home and practice "what ifs" scenarios on how you (and your family) will handle an intruder. Think "muscle memory". |
