Johnny Wactor murdered
Johnny Wactor(General Hospital TV actor) was shot and killed by guys stealing catalytic converters off his car. “His mother told TMZ that Johnny and a colleague saw three men trying to steal a catalytic converter from his vehicle, and although Johnny did not attempt to stop them, he was shot and subsequently rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead early Saturday morning.” Another article I have no idea who this guy was, but it’s sad to see someone killed by thieves. |

Same thing happened to a Houston cop a couple of years back. He was at a grocery store , came out to his truck and the thieves were stealing it. He confronted them and got shot. If I recall it was early evening with daylight.

My old neighbor was a scrapper. He had several loads of catalytic converters that he brought up to the Canada border one summer. So I start asking questions. He said that guy would cross the US border and pay him the most. The buyer cleaned them up and sold the contents to cosmetic dentists. Platinum teeth veneers.

Catalytic converter thefts are up most places. I know a girl who had them stolen from her Tundra twice. There’s a good marker for protection devices now. So I don’t fault him for where he lives. I will fault him for voting, if he did, and he most likely did, vote for people who don’t allow people to protect themselves.
Rhodium spot is like $5K an ounce. Unless they can figure out another catalyst to use, thefts will stay high. |
