Cobras are one of my childhood favorites. . .
<———- I’m kind of biased though. |

I worked at a Huey/Cobra squadron when we were still flying the AH-1W. A few years later I was the ordnance chief at a training squadron and got a chance to fly front seat in a Zulu. I also got to shoot 500 rounds of 20mm and 19 HE rockets.
That was a cool fucking flight. Thanks, Pink!! |

1 got to see up close what was purportedly the first Cobra to show up in Northern I Corps in '68. Looked all sleek and deadly to my young eyes.
Years after, I met a guy who flew them during the Easter Offensive. Had some great stories. |

One of the best parts of visiting my son on Pendleton was hitting the south end of Basilone by the airfield and watching the Vipers and Ospreys come and go.

Makes them look muscular. Like 10 pounds of whomping in an 8 pound bag. |

Old Vietnam Cobras are my favorite helicopters. It looks beautiful and very deadly at the same time, like a shark or something.

This one was used by the Italian Forest Service before being shipped back to the US and pressed into spray service.

Many years ago I was on deployment and we were on a little spanish island doing live fire. My platoon was shooting two machine guns from one ridge across to another when a Cobra suddenly flies in the small valley at low altitude so we quickly ceased fire. We are all wondering what this guy is doing when he brings it in and lands on the small road between the ridges. Now we are really confused but, he proceeds to get out and then take a leak apparently unaware that we are even there and then gets back in and flies off.

I think you are blinded by nostalgia. The Cobra and the Apache are both ugly. So is the HIND.
