Yeah there is much talk about the states in rebellion encompassing 19 states with TX and CA being the Western Alliance in the later pages of the big Civil War movie thread.

Not sure what the writers were smoking, but to come up with a map scenario like depicted in the movie is way too far fetched ideologically and politically (in todays environment) and they'll likely have to do some kind of explanation early in the movie just so people don't tune out.

This map only reinforces my hunch that the ideological rift will be completely non-descriptive. That the writers were told to make a civil war movie but not to define the ideological split that lead to the war or what defines the sides of the war and to rather tell the story of what it’s like being in a civil war. There will be hints but the backstory won’t be overt.

In reality, TX all the way to FL and to SC would be one solid block. KY, NC, WV & MO would be the Eastern Front war zone. The western front would be AZ, NV and ID…

Which never made all that much sense to me. There are cheaper ways to dispose of political undesirables. Bash their skull in with a rock and bury them in a ditch is pretty cheap. It could be interesting if you had a skilled author who was completely apolitical and/or morally gray writing about this stuff. Or perhaps done by a bunch of people as a large scale war game?
