We had a member whose son bought a car a few years ago, car was a piece of shit, bought it from the father of the car's owner. Had a hell of a time getting the title, or they were trying to get his money back(don't remember for sure which).

The dad who sold him the car said his son was a fishing guide in Costa Rica. Same family?

But assuming this is one of those "I'll have the money next payday" kind of things, no. Do not hold it for him, make no promises. Those 'hold it for me' cases almost never work out and you're left passing up other legitimate parties because you promised this one dude. No.
