Yup, it hasn't seen much pocket time.  It's bulky, and takes 2 hands to deploy. Also this is the second blade first one cracked with the lightest tap cutting thru something(can't recall what).  Not impressed but owe it some pocket time before it goes to the back.

Art knife, it won't see pocket time. It was really cool in person. The price was good to for all that milling and M390, think it was $250. CRKT railed me for $300 on the CRKT Bones special edition and it sucked. This was at least worth what they were asking.

I used to have access to buy CRKT knives at dealer cost. I bought a lot of them at dirt cheap prices. They are OK if you buy them for wholesale prices. Still seems like they all come up lacking in some way.

I've never handled the larger Shiros, and I don't have a NeOn or HatiOn anymore, but this looks to be about the same size. The action is much better than either of those was. It really is masterfully put together.

But, there is no way I'm keeping this thing. At least it will be easy to resell. Except, as they aren't making Specters anymore, perhaps they will continue to go up in price? Hard to say. I know the Haptic has not been quite as well received (doesn't really do anything for me, personally).

They use one of the three on most blades. I'm pretty sure the BH is 204P.

The three steels are the same composition but by different foundries. M390 is Bohler, 204P is Carpenter and 20CV is Crucible

It's a spectacular knife. Better than similar size Shiros (NeOn, HatiOn) for sure. A ton of great milling, both external and internal. Amazing action. If I could have gotten one for "table price" when they were still being made, I definitely would. At secondary pricing, I don't think I can justify it.

Edit: Oh, shit, I just realized I posted vertical video! LOL.

Whatever it is doesn't hold up all that well. Didn't take much use to take the bite out of the blade.

The outfit that sold me the 09/2020 BH had it listed as Elmax, and the guy on the phone represented the same. I believe the UT I just ordered from DLT is 204P, and so is every other UT I’ve seen with a 2020 date. Either that or M390. I bet they were wrong about the BH.

I doubt it is Elmax. They do batches of knives in the same steel. Everything they've been doing lately is 204P.

The last Elmax I remember seeing was on the LUDT.

Didn't have a chance to notice on the first blade, the replacement is ok but not great.

I have a midtech Bones and really like it. CRKT had one of the Italian companies do their special edition and fit was fine, finish was kinda rough for a $300 knife. I felt like the jagged edges around the lock bar (it was a frame lock too instead of the liner lock they usually are) would cut you just looking at them. The packaging was exactly the same as the cheapo Crossbones version. Action was stiff, probably because of the crappy lockbar. It did not impress. Whereas my midtech was cheaper and all around awesome and Jeff Park had his hands on it. You can pick up the midtechs for reasonable prices, why bother with the CRKT special edition.
