You mean like 8 out of 10 GD'ers reply to a thread without reading the post.

You mean titles should have impact and meaning that are used to attract attention and should have some relevance to the subsequent material?

Well....they should, and should encourage more reading.

Now they are just clickbait, especially from some sources.

Imagine if book titles were as duplicitous.

Mark Twain's "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" is now "Wet College Lesbians Gone Wild"

Meanwhile, 87% of ARFCOM admits to posting immediately after reading the headline. Read the actual story? Ain't nobody got time for that...

That's pretty much the point.

Eta: You can look at similar relatively benign events that occurred under Obama, Trump and Biden and see the vast difference in tone of the headlines as easy comparisons This is all purposeful to steer public opinion and at the very least amounts to effectively billions in free advertising for any approved politicians.

This. Many of those who don't read the post are the most vociferous, ironically.

Reminds me of an article I just read on bidens free crack pipe program. If you read the title or scanned 99% of the article you would think it was a conspiracy theory, then one buried sentence said it was true but smoking kits were only a small part of it so don't worry about it.

Stupid headline.

Did not read the article.

QED.

The other two just weren't aware that they were reacting with bias.

Humans have biases hardwired into every facet of their thinking.  It takes a lot of very conscious self-examination and action to reduce it significantly.  I don't know if you can ever really completely get rid of it.

partly why most gun rights pages piss me off. they say what the commies think in the headline.   Then argue against in their article that many won't read.

People who use their own sensationalized headers that cause a lot of BP's to go up should be given 24 hour timeouts
