Looks like printed media is still popular even though they have so much technology.
Or is it just the older generations who are still buying magazines?

IINM, japan has a very easily liquified soil in the flat areas. Not as bad as Mexico City, but similar, as the flat areas are basically layered sediments from the volcanic mountains.

It would make cleanup easier. After the quake, the rich and vibrant of all colors would proceed to raze and pillage the rest, after which we could just bulldoze it, and start over somewhere else.

Shindo scale tops out at 7, more here:

Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity scale

So the nankai trough is estimated from 8 to 9 plus magnitude when it goes and it looks like this in this scenario a 9.2 magnitude earthquake:

Well, work never stops in Japan. My gal pal had to walk 5 hours home from the subway station because there's no service and report to work at 9am, the family slept outside in the backyard in case of any aftershocks.  So, she got home at about 5pm after walking home and had to leave at 3am to report back to work.

She works 9am to 9pm with only a 30min lunch.  She's too tired to chat but she was at work when the quake hit, she's on the ground floor of a department store and they all immediately ran outside all the shelves went over.  Today they all have to work to clean up but they are still open for business.
