I've been also corrected, that this didn't actually happen in Beverly Hills, which is a different municipality than LA. The difference is huge, about 1.23 miles. I stand corrected and have edited the thread title.

She spoke to CBS:
The victim was later identified as Orange County transgender woman Zoe Perez, according to CBSLA’s Dave Lopez.

Perez said the guard was aiming at Perez’s midsection but the doctors told him the shot “was a graze”.

Not sure what taunting Aimless sees.

I mean, if I am sitting there eating a chicken sandwich a vegan might get upset, and if I keep on sitting there eating it, they will probably continue to be more upset, but that's not really taunting.

Guard didn't want to be recorded but it wasn't like the camera person was heckling them or pretending to go for a gun, or other shit.

I suspect that there will be minor repercussions for the police rolling up and taking the victim into custody, but nothing will come of it.  The synagog is going to be paying, and the security company will be, and the guard will likely end up charged with something before the end, some form of assault plus some form of discharging gun in public

It appears that generally no, but in this case yes. AFAIK Cop Block started by recording arrests or IOW citizen vs. cop interactions they weren't (initially) part of. 1A auditors seek the officials out and because they have trained most departments already with winning so many settlements, they are now turning to private security. OTOH it's logical and again OTOH the lowest hanging fruit.

The pinned comment on one of the videos.  I'm really curious what the guard initially told the police.

Discussion ForumsJump to Quoted PostQuote History

This is Mrs Potato. Guard is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.  Please stop making comments about Jewish people, they had nothing to do with this and I will delete them . This was one lone security guard, he said it was a warning shot. He shot through the gate at an unarmed person. I believe the shot hit the gate and fragmented to its inertia was dampened by the gate impact. There were innocent people in the area which made it far more dangerous, What it does highlight is how utterly untrained these guards are. Unlike police their reactions are not kept trained. Also  some online mags are wrong. She was filming a synagogue, not a school. Clearly in all these videos there are no children nor were they ever intended to be. She had done all kinds of churches just standing there. Furry has now been shot, pepper sprayed, attacked with metal batons assaulted, had strong arm robbery committed against her simply for filming from a public sidewalk. Oh and why the police handcuffed her first, the shooter phoned them and lied to them. When the police arrived they hadn't seen the film so they were going by the guars word, despite the fact Furry had nothing but pepper spray for her own safety (I insist). The police only went by what they were  told.

Security guard is an idiot who did an idiot thing.   Tranny has every right to do what they did.

Having said that, I know that place and the area.  It is a Jewish area (right down the street from the Holocaust Museum and lots of other Jewish places)   This is also an Orthodox place.   Again, you have the right to do you, there, on the public sidewalks, but it is like standing outside of a church, on Sunday, at noon, dressed like Satan with a "fuck Jesus" sign.   You have the right....but the results might suck.

The Jewish ones are a little different philosophically.

Keep in mind, this is mostly the Orthodox and the Orthodox are mostly right leaning and pro-2a.  They are also mostly in liberal big cities.   I think some of this is just people like you and me  (and most people here)  with little outlet for their right wing pro-2a inclinations.  It seems a little mall ninja and wackerish....and it is...but it is all they have and them trying to be proactive the best way they can.

Well, having worked in the private security industry, I can say from experience that a lot of the people there are real oddballs. Usually more on the incompetent or lazy side than dangerous for the most part, but there are certainly some on the dangerous or freaky side as well, usually in the "I wanted to be a cop but can't qualify for police academy" camp. And a handful of criminals that haven't been caught yet that are doing it to get on the inside. Definitely a really fucked up industry, but hey - what do you expect when you only pay minimum wage? Best security job I had was armed alarm response. Still had to deal with a lot of bullshit, but you're on your own most of the time doing drive-bys and responding to alarms and lockouts. Other jobs where I was stuck on-site with other employees was when things got ugly. I'd rather deal with the homeless druggies in downtown Portland than many of my former co-workers. One time I got to work and they said yeah that other dude got fired on your days off - he was threatening to stab you when you got back! Pretty sure he was a drug dealer anyway.

Trolling yes...taunting...not so sure.

I envision the word taunting as generally that person is the initiator and keeps on 'pestering' the person when they try and escape (and pestering doesn't carry the right magnitude) rather than fishing and then snapping at those who take the bait.  If you can stay away from the bait, you are all good, so that's hardly taunting.

And really, the conduct is ONLY disturbing because the authorities think it's wrong.  It's not like purposely blasting music a tiny bit below the legal threshold for noise disturbance, it's more like peacefully holding a sign, or a gay couple walking by holding hand, or a guy with a pistol on his hip going about his day to day business

Bold underlined part is the issue.  Who gets to decide who is 'media' and who isn't?  The Government?  That's bad.  We can't have that otherwise the people in power will say that the only 'real' media is the one telling a flattering story for them.

In the founding fathers day, freedom of the press literally meant you got pissed at the mayor or whoever, you buy yourself a printing press and print off 1000 single-page pamphlets about why that mayor sucks, and distribute them.  The closest thing today isn't CNN or MSNBC or Fox having the right to create content, it's about individual guys to grab a camera, make a story about their complain, and share it.

In general, these auditors do a needed job from coast to coast.  Thinking people rail against the over reaching gov. that flies in the face of our Constitution.  Then when individuals come out with cameras to demand accountability and transparency and to follow the Constitution from city admin., courts, police, etc., boy do some of them start whining.

Most of the auditors are legit and respectful until their rights are violated.  They give what the get.  You want to violate their rights expect a FU in return.  The most accessible corrupt individuals they encounter are the dirty cops of which they post vids.  And, of course, those are the ones who hate the cams.

There are also many vids of good  cop encounters who aren't afraid to be on cam and have a civil dialogue. I wonder why?  Could it be they have nothing to hide and are working to improve the disconnect between citizens and police?

Not everyone fears for their life or gets nervous at the same point, and rolling the dice on some guy making like 15 an hour to stand around 99% of the time sure seems like a case of play stupid games win stupid prizes. Maybe these guys will try it on an active flight line next and see if they can get a keyed up 18 year old to shoot them.

Property owners often tend to overstep their bounds. They think owning a certain plot of land entitles them to dictate what people do on adjacent public land. Cops seem to tend to side with them even when they are wrong. Looks like in this case, the "auditor" got someone to go full retard before the cops got a chance.

I used to be relatively uninformed when it came to laws regarding filming/recording in public. I enjoy watching 1A auditor videos and have learned quite a bit from them. They provide great insight into human psychology, IMO.
I will say that a lot of times, the auditors act petty about certain things, but so do a lot of the cops and public servants who end up being the subjects of their videos.
Overall, I'm a big fan of the 1A auditor community, even though most of the time I find myself rooting for the cops to not give them what they're looking for. Obviously the cops usually can't resist doing exactly that, however, which is why the 1A auditors are able to consistently gather content.
