The B-2 flyover yesterday at the Rose Bowl had a female pilot, call sign "Rogue". I had to chuckle at that one and how cliche' it was, "Rogue 1" joke parody potential, etc...
I know there was an F-18 squadron at NAS Lemoore in Cali. Called the "Fighting Redcocks" and their call sign was "Peckerhead 1" (2,3, etc...) Got any good ones? |

I'd assume Rogue is a reference to the female X-Men character of the same name.

The best fitting one I remember was Clifford, he was a ~6' tall, completely pumped ginger, and a total man slut.
Named after the big red dog in the children's novels. Kharn |

I did hear "Dirty Sanchez 73" make the call to transition through through Tajis airspace in 2007. ATC asked them to repeat the call sign. So they did. ATC had to have had to have laughed or shit themselves.

Hmmmmm! I wonder if that was spelled "Rogue?" I ask because the unit I retired out of in 2004 used he Call Sign "Rogue."
There shouldn't be multiple military units with the same Call Sign. This was an AF Call Sign out of Robins AFB, GA. My Call Sign was "JBOB" for Joe Bag of Bagels. I flew with an F-16 pilot who's Call Sign was "Spike." Got it after an incident while taxiing out of chocks and one of his wingtip AIM-9s clipped the Crew Chief and gashed his head. It was the Crew Chiefs fault but it stuck never the less. |

My last name sounds kinda like "Rodent Bird" and I'm German, so my first callsign was "Fledermaus" (German for "Bat", literally "Flying Mouse").
It was briefly changed to "Basket" when I poked my refueling probe through a tanker's drogue, ripped it off, and brought it home with me. Then eventually it just morphed to "Rodent". We also had "Weasel" Wenzel, "Skip" for a guy who literally bounced off the water, "Acid" for a guy with a rather unfortunate personality, "Toad" for a guy with a rather unfortunate face, "ET" for a guy with no chin and a long neck, and "Chocolate", for a black guy named Chip. My favorite, though, was for the first black guy in the unit. One of the instruments in a jet is the "N1", and that was his call sign. Nowadays you'd get court-martialed for that. |
