You can't just call and idiot an idiot here, it would seem. You have to explain it with a group identity. It is easier for most here when the person looks to be obviously of a different ethnicity - the tribal instinct quickly explains away the behavior as caused as associated with a clearly "different" group. It gets tougher for people when that is no present. Then, their mind has to grasp for some other connection to show said idiot is of a different "tribe."
