Sounds like the standard treatment.  My best friends father took the bones that connect to the pinky and ring fingers out of the palm of his hand with a 9mm Makarov.  Did it somehow racking the slide on the Mak.  Frozen firing pin?  Two surgeries including a bone graft from his hip and he is at about 80% usage.  He's a farmer and rebroke it once on the job.  Ouch!!

Guns are dangerous.  I think I need to sell all mine to be safe....      Naww.

How does one shoot himself in the hand by racking the slide? What the hell are you guys doing wrong? Hell, I don't even have to put my hands in front of the gun to take my Glocks down....

Honestly, I appreciate you posting this. I think seeing the results of an ND every so often helps keep my on my toes as far as handling and safety go. I'm already  a very safe shooter, but seeing stuff like this makes me about 10x more cautious!

Glad to see the hand is looking good.

Interesting pics.

In studying man post shooting reports i have noticed that people are often hit in the hands during gunsfights.  Makes perfect sense as the hands are in front of the torso holding a weapon, so you man be shoting threough the hands to hit the vitals.  That plus people often focus on the other guys weapon during stress and you will shoot where you are looking.

what kind of work do you do? that could be a career ending injury for someone who types, writes, drives or shoots for a living.

Glad to hear things are swell. How's the fist-making working out? I can feel the tendon tugging on my scar tissue if I try........I kinda want it to tear, and I kinda don't. Tearing would be cheaper I guess.

Drive on.

In my best friends fathers case he somehow fumbled the gun as he racked it.  Based on my conversations with him he isn't really sure how he did it.

Can I confirm:   You pulled the trigger to break the weapon down and that's when you got stung?

Thanks.

Glad everything is working as well as it is, and it doesn't look too gross either!

I had a buddy that has a similar wound, his was caused when he was racking the slide on a  .45 during an IDPA match.  He was using the front serrations, the sear broke and it went full auto.  the third 200gr. LSWC discharged went through his left hand just above the "V" shape that your thumb and forefinger make.  Missed all bones, missed all tendons, left a hole the size of a ping-pong ball in his hand.

Several surgeries later he is AOK.
