No AR yet. I am looking to make one my next firearm purchase. Kind of a bad time to get into another caliber, though.

Before the tragic boat fire I had a Bushmaster 16in, Colt 20in, Wasr 10 and a SAR-2. Before the fire

Of course i have both. While i use AR's for HD.SHTF. AK'S are just badass. The sound they make when charging the bolt is pretty underrated too. Sounds like pure evil. Not that im suggesting it to "scare off bad guys."

I've got both, chambered in 7.62x39. A yugo underfolder, and a colt sporter.
Also have a wasr 10, a 5.56 dpms upper, and a matching # Romanian parts kit (thinking bout sending it in to be built into a 7.62x25 rifle) |

Have had at least one AR in my possession since about 1985. Several AKs had come and gone in that time. I had a PolyTech Legend and a PolyTech AKS762 Spiker before the ban. After the ban, the price on these shot up high enough that selling them became too great a temptation to resist. I made quite a large profit on both along with the accessories I had accumulated for them. I really liked the spiker as it was a great shooter and very accurate for an AK. Used the money to buy more ARs and accessories for same. I figured I would never own a pre ban Chinese AK again seeing how the prices were going no where but up. I missed my spiker every time I went to the range.
Late 2007, I am cruising the local gun shops looking for new toys. Walk into the one I frequent most, and here behind the counter is a beautiful pre ban PolyTech spiker. Knowing what the price tag on what appeared to be an unfired rifle most likely would be, I just wanted to hold her for a few minutes and miss my old one. Getting to the counter, the price tag is turned at an odd angle making it hard to read well. I could almost swear it said $799!!! Got one of the staff to hand me the rifle for examination, and sure enough, that was the price. Looked it over for maybe 30 seconds. It was indeed a pre ban PolyTech and as far as I could tell, unfired. I asked if it had a box. Yep, box, sling, three mags with chrome followers, oiler, manual, every thing. 5 minutes later I owned a pre ban Chinese AK brand new in the box for less than I could have bought an Arsenal AK for. I will own this one from now on. No way I could replace it for what I payed for it. Hell, I payed less for it than I sold the old one for and it was VERY used. |

I chose both, but I currently do not have an AK. I just sold one last week, and picking another up tomorrow. So...yeah tomorrow I with have both again. I REALLY want a 5.45

Does an SKS count ?
If so, I have both. I've shot a few AK's but don't really like them enough to want to buy one. |
|
Of course I have both. What sort of modern collection is complete without one of each?

You mean that there are people that don't have both an AR and an AK? guns are icky and look evil so they must be bad .... right? |
|
I chose I'm a felon because there was no pie or bacon option

Ak's huh? Naw I don't own any. I do know a guy very well that has ,
1Chinese and 1 Hungarian guess he had a boating accident too. |
|
Used to own both. After years of shooting, got rid of the AK's. Didn't care for the sights, accuracy, or ergos, compared to AR's.

I USED to have an AK, but I sold it to get parts for my AR yep. same here |

Only have an AR as of now, but will probably build an AK clone when I can afford it.
I need a good optic right now, so the next 1200 dollars I can spare (hahahahah ) is going to go towards a scope. Someday, though, I would like something more Soviet than my SKS. |
|
I have both . My Maadi is a blast to shoot and 7.62x 39 is cheaper to buy around where I live . For the money an AK is hard to beat if your on a budget . I plan on getting a couple more for the simple fact that my children may not be able to buy them in the future .

Got multiple versions of both. Like others have pointed out, you're slacking off upsetting the bedwetting libtards if you only own one or the other.
I had the AK first (a 5.45 one at that!)...though a SKS was my first centerfire semi. But if I'm going to grab a 7.62x39 carbine the AKs & SKSs can stay where they are & the Vz58 gets the nod. Much better ergos & handling IMHO. |
|
Close.
I have an AR and an SKS. I just can't afford the AK at the moment. |
|
You don't need one of each, but you definitely need each one.
|
|
Both, though my AR's do seem to be reproducing at a much higher rate.
|
|
I have multiple versions of each. Magazines for the them as well.
The two converted Saigas(one .223 and one 7.62x39) are good enough for me to feel comfortable carrying them on duty if I had too. |
|
I've had AK's,SKS,and others.I love them all,but it's much easier to stick with the versatile AR.I have 2."If" the the SH'sTF it'll be MUCH simpler/better having 1 gun,1 ammo,1 mag ect...Just my 2 cents .
|
|
I have owned both, but now have an AK (SGL 20) and a PTR 91...Trying desperately to sell a sword (ia collect those too ) to try and help fund a '74....

Quoted: IBTP Does 5.45 x39 count? Does it count? Hell you get bonus points! |

Just a WASR, but it goes bang everytime. Also, I think an SKS should be in the mix as well. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2552/3935025392_8fe92ca2c2_b.jpg What is that AR? I likely A1 uppers with M4 barrels |
|
I have an AK. Will have an AR lower tomorrow...

I only have an AR. Nothing against AKs. Just don't want to have to stock up on yet another caliber ammo. Then get one in .223. |
