Xbox is fun but the machine itself is a POS nothing but problems with it freezing up or dying. I am on my 4th or 5th xbox.... I per-ordered a PS4. FWIW I still have my original ps1 and ps2 never had any problems with it. Most of my friends online are going PS4 as well.

This late in the life cycle I would go for play station, Microsoft has a reputation of killing support as soon as the next gen is released while new PS2 games were still being released 5 years after the PS3 launched.
