No, lived there for 2 years, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts sucks.

Live in NH and commute to MA. Many of us do just that. I'll cost alot more that $175K to get me to actually live in MA. And then, my gun collection will still live in NH. |
I'd say then the best advice I have is take as much time as you reasonably can like a week or two and stay in the area you're thinking of moving to.
I worked in Boston for a bit. For the most part people are just assholes. Condescending, self righteous, assholes. Night and day difference to the nice NH town I live in now. Yea my chest feels tight just thinking about it. I don't think I could do it. If you're happy now, don't fuck with it. Good luck. |

I would, but then again....
There's a lot of weird information being banded about in this thread. Western Ma is nice but it is a liberal conclave of people that commute to Connecticut or New York. As for your mags, pre-94's are just fine as with AR's or what ever. Post 94 AR's and such were fine up until our AG decided to reinterpret the AWB and included operating systems in the mix so no AR's are currently being sold. That's not to say that most here that own firearms don't have them or multiples of them sans a few Fudds. Thank god she lets us keep our pellet guns so I can go down to Texas and hunt their "Deer". Everything is big in Texas, Ha. The most right wing part of MA are the outskirts surrounding Boston. Look at the Voting maps by county. As for gun ownership, my club has 5-6000 members alone. Boston isn't a large city. Rather small as far as cities go but lots of history, places to go and things to do. I could go on but I wouldn't hesitate. T. |

Nope.
Real estate is too high for that salary... And commuting in that state sucks taint. |

That's true, at least for now. However, since sales (both retail and private) of AR's are now illegal, mags would be of little use. I And commuting to Boston (as in downtown) from NH in 30 mins? Good luck. View Quote |

Pretend to comply, and live in the free state just to the north.
30 minutes N/S/W? As long as you aren't 30 minutes south of Boston you can live right across the border in southern NH and enjoy some freedom. Commutes will suck big time, but such is life.

Why would I take a pay cut to move from one commie shithole to another!
Okay, just saw the part about must live in sate.
It still depends. How much of a step up would this job be for you, both pay and career? If it's a chance to really up your salary and could lead to bigger and better things in a few years (and the chance to move to a free state), then I wouldn't discount it out of hand due to shitty gun laws. Also assuming the job isn't LEO, because in that case I think you have an end around a lot of the shitty gun laws. |

That's triple what I make now.
I support my disabled wife and two kids. Paycheck to paycheck every week. Yes I would go to Mass. |

It depends where the job is located, I would work in MA if the commute time is 45 minutes max one way from either VT or NH.
Been there. Not impressed.
Also depending on where you would have to live the cost of living may cancel out any increase in salary. Then there is the freedom part. |
I would work, but I would never consider being a permanent resident. I'd take whatever I have and put it in storage or family members house and live like I'm broke as fuck and just save. Do that for a few years and move back home.
Heap, but I would depend on the cost of living there. $175,000 may not be 175,000

Abso-F*CKING-lutely not, and I'm not just saying that. I took an 8% pay cut just to move out of NY and don't regret it for one minute... Living in a free state where I can exercise my 2nd amendment right is more important to me than $$. Besides, what good is more $$ if I can't buy an unneutered AR, SBR and/or suppressors... View Quote I would not work there for $175k/yr. There are a whole lot of things in life more important than money. I would say most people could cut their lifestyles in half and have more money than if they doubled their salary. Wife and I make $135/yr in NC and fully fund our retirement, everything is paid off, and we still have to find places to spend the extra $1k/mo. Quit living like Millionaires on $50k/yr salary and you wouldnt worry so much about money or salary. |
I was in a very similar situation.
Moved to NH for wife's job in MA. Lived there 8 years while commute got worse and worse. Moved to MA eventually so wife could work more while having less commute and more time with kids. Wife's compensation has gone from very good to extremely good since we moved so it seems to be working for us. YMMV. |
Don't know why I would even consider a move to Mass for $175K. I wouldn't take that here.....let alone MASS!
All things considered, my threshold would be about $1.5 million/yr, provided I don't have to work any harder than I do now.
PS: For those who would live in NH, the title of the thread says "move". |
Lol, you should have titled this thread
"If you make more than $175k and are dying to tell everyone, post here" |
I spent a year in Bosnia for a lot less.
Of course, Bosnia is a nicer place to live.... |

View Quote I'm not as active with my guns as I was, money is a little tight right now, so moving to the State where people were shot over weapons confiscation and not able to exercise the 2A, would suck. But, I'd do it. I'm single with a house payment. ETA: Probably spend some weekends in Maine, with family I havent seen in 20 years. |
I'd do it for a year, two max, but while I would "live" in MA during the week, my weekends would be spent with my loved ones (my guns, which would be stored at my parents' house in Maine, about an hour and a half north of Boston).
Only if it were a job that actively worked against the lefties in that state and I would still live in southern NH or southern Maine.
Yea, rent an apartment public transportation to and from work.
Save my money and buy 1000 acres in West Virginia stock pile guns and food. in 5 years take the masshole money and retreat to my hideout in WV. I can live cheap for 5 years and take that money and buy land in freedom country USA then bail out If my option is to live there until retirement then HELL NO |
Not an effing chance. Especially considering in places in mass that pay like that, that's not that much
HELL NO!!!
If they ever attempt to Secede; I'll be raising Volunteers to put down the rebellion. |
