I bet they said they were going to a post-prom party, but turned up at the motel instead. If I was a parent of kids that age, I'd even consider sponsoring a post-prom party at a bowling alley or other safe place, AND chaperone it! |

Both Jr and Sr proms I ended up spending the night with my gf. Both times at her house, with both her parents and my parent's knowledge.

My daughter is 5. When she gets to be 17 and wants to do something like this I will tell her "Okay, but, you will go dressed as Whistler's mother. The curtains will remain open; No they will be removed as will the door to the room at the hinges. You will be seated in view of the window. I will post signs in the room that any and all males, who enter, must stay in view of the now bare window or cleared door frame. The signs will further indicate that I am someplace within 100 meters of the place, with a large caliber, optically equiped, expertly zeroed rifle that I will be able to observe flies buzzing the pizza on the table. If I see so much as a shoe get untied, a cufflink removed, or any other action I deem inapproriate towards her, I will drop said offender like a wet sheet, where he stands."

Don't care if it is a son or a daughter. ETA: No hipocrisy from me on this one. I chose not to go to prom and I stayed home that night. I didn't want any part of the BS that my peers were participating in. |

Well, at leat I didnt find any "hard" drugs on them. Or any date ratpe drugs. except for alcohol, the original date rape drug... We find tons of Soma at prom time. It's no coincidence either. the 18yo senior go to tijuana and pick up the 90 day supply, which ends up in many an underclassmen females drinks. |

Where I was living when my daughter was 17, the Police kept telling me she was an adult and could do what she wanted, and there was nothing I could do to stop her from doing what she chose to do. I didn't agree then, and I don't agree now. No motel, but OMG, I'll let it go at this.
