I grew up in Canada in a Province whose culture dictates that only criminals want guns.
I immigrated to the States in my mid 20's but held on to this belief for a very long time.
I worked in Hollywood for 20+ years where guns are only cool on a movie or TV screen.
The industry's HR Departments have a zero tolerance rule for even talking about guns in a favorable light around colleagues, even though my particular company hires tons of veterans.
I moved to AZ a few years back and exposure to gun culture quickly changed my mind about carrying a gun.
So I bought a gun (then more), got some training, and started carrying on an almost daily basis.
At work we have many foreign (mostly Indian) and Blue State transplants, and boy do they hate Constitutional Carry.
We all get along, and for the most part I enjoy their company when they're not talking politics.
Yesterday, I went to lunch with a few Indian colleagues.
We were sitting inside a restaurant when a patron walked in open carrying a revolver.
My colleagues freaked the f**k out and I started chuckling under my breathe.
They asked me if I was OK with it and I simply asked them if they'd like to go somewhere else.
When pressed again, I told them that there's probably 2 or 3 people concealed carrying at every place they've ever frequented.
Unless there's a no-gun sign on the window, someone probably has a gun on their person at that store.
I told them that I felt safe because criminals know this as well, and people wear guns to protect themselves and the innocent.
That's when I usually get "but you're from Canada, and you're OK with this?".
I told them them that I used to think like they did, but changed my mind once I started looking into the statistics behind concealed carry States and crime.
They just looked at me like I had 3 heads.

It pains me to see so many Left-leaning people move to gun-friendly States and work so hard at destroying the American dream.
AZ is a good example of that. Texas is another one. I suspect Tennessee and Florida are next (many Libs moving there).
They move in, gentrify cities, and price out the natives.
Then they change the culture into Commie havens, destroy the cities with crazy Left-leaning policies, and move on to another State.
It feels like we're seeing the fall of an Empire.
Boy does it ever happen quickly.

Eh, God willing, you might be able to explain all that evil backwards stuff like, defending yourself and others, how that's adult and right, and how being a coward is something to fear, and how utterly low it is to just shove that duty off on someone else.  Plenty of pathos wound up in that, and you don't even have to let the pathos lead or get out of control.

Remember that what you win people with (the way you do it and what you do it with) is what you win them to. People don't change their minds quickly and those who do usually do so lightly and are easily peeled off their new positions.

My company is full of libs but they're also mostly PhD's so they're easily swayed by facts and stats and I think of them as sort of soft-libs rather than hardcore libs. When they find out I'm a long range shooter they all get that look of dread that comes when people have seen too many movies and not enough facts and then they start asking questions and soon they're off learning on their own. About half a dozen so far have gone from instinctive pants shitting at the mention of guns to being gun owners that like to come over to my cube and bug me asking for my opinion on this caliber or that holster or this brand of whatever. Double edged sword in that way and it's taken a number of years but progress can be made.

I live in AZ and have been here since 1993.  I know what the OP is talking about when it comes to libs moving in and changing the culture.  AZ now has two D senators, but now one is bucking the party line.  The state went to biden, which is pretty sad.  Luckily we have a Republican governor and legislature, so the lib poison is somewhat diluted for now.  We'll see how long that lasts.

When I drive the dozen miles or so to the closest grocery store, I only rarely do not see at least one person open carrying.
I always see a couple printing or something that are concealed carrying.
And usually bump into someone I know that is concealed carrying.

That's what I did. I had three, professionally educated, two-of-three prior Army, black, mostly-democrat females working for me.  We did a team-building day at the on-post range.  They loved it. All three went out and purchased handguns, two got their CCW and training.  Before I retired from the military, I was working pretty hard to show them that their conservative values weren't aligned with their party affiliation.  I don't know how much of a difference I made but I still keep in touch with one of them.

Yes, we have a lot of libs moving to Tennessee.  But they are for the most part moving into the  Nashville area.  Nashville doesn't have enough pull to sway the entire state. Some are moving here to east Tenn. But again, not  ear enough to sway the area from firmly entrenched Red.
