If he allows the AWB to sunset with no further restrictions, then Yes.  If he doesn't, I'll probably still vote for him but it'll be under protest and I'll be sure to let him and the RNC know why.  Oh, my contributions to the RNC will stop.

But I thought you said a day or two ago that you were going to vote for Bush regardless of whether he signs another AWB???

Of course...

1) I like the job he's doing

2) Even if I didn't, a vote for anyone else is a vote for Hillary (or whoever else runs Dem. Al's allready got his 2004 campaign site up)...

I plan to vote 3rd party as a protest vote, to express my displeasure with the status quo.

Then, in 2005, after a liberal gun grabber has been elected President by 4000 votes, I will log onto a progun website & scream like a banshee because bolt-action "sniper" rifles, in all calibers above .22, have been outlawed.[whacko]

Hmmm,...I wasn't aware any final plans as far as how BIG, or SMALL of a force would be used.
In fact,...the last I heard, they said it would likely be a mostly SF kind of thing, and very different from Desert Storm.
unless you heard something I may have missed.

For Bush to earn my vote, he must do the following -

1. Repeal Reagan's '86 machine gun ban

2. Repeal his father's '89 import ban

3. Let the '94 crime bill expire

4. End travel restrictions to Cuba

5. End all federal grants and subsidies

6. End federal campaign funding

7. Debate 3rd party candidates

8. End siezure of property without due process

9. Abolish the IRS and end income taxes

10. Deregulate all private industries

11. Abolish BATF and DEA

That would be a good start, but I don't see it happening........

Farmcoot:  Interesting.  "dont vote for a person who is not going to win".  Let me ask you a question:  If GWB is, say, 20 points behind in the polls going into the election in 2004, would you vote for him?  Why not vote for the democrat, who, after all, is going to win?  In a situation like that, why THROW YOUR VOTE AWAY voting for someone who cannot win?

I will not decide until after September 13th, 2004.

No further donations to the RNC or individual Republicans will be made until that date.

Getting it over with does have some appeal...[:(!]

Now what the Heck good is that gonna do?

Not a damn thing.

Do what I do. Give them a donation AND ask that they take every reasonable step to make certain that the AWB is not renewed.

They understand, trust me.

It leaves plenty of time until the election. I continue to receive requests for donations, so I bring up the AWB every time, and tell them I am waiting for September of 2004.

I am certainly not giving them money to work against me!

I must say this, anyone who does NOT vote for GWB in the 2004 election IS VOTING FOR GUN CONTROL.  It is CERTAIN that his DEM opponent will be in favor of more citizen control aka gun control measures.  Go ahead and make your decision to show your displeasure with him and make things considerably worse, but you'll feel better knowing you didnt vote for GWB because he upheld the AW ban.

I've heard "Insanity" defined as doing the same thing, the same way, over and over again, and expecting a different result.

You're suggesting that we shouldn't kick GWB out of office if he supports gun control... because his opponent might support gun control.

As I've said earlier, if we put Bush back into office after he signs a renewed AW ban, we undo all the gains we've made since the "Republican Revolution."  Gun control will become a topic that both parties will feel "safe" discussing again.

Anyone who wants to look will notice that Bush is not going to undo any gun control on the books.  If you think he WON'T sign the AWB or any other gun control legislation, wake up.  Sure, I've seen what he did while in Texas.  Guess what....he's not in Texas anymore.  He's in big bad Washington where he's compromising with the Democrats to make them support his handy little war in Iraq.  I wonder what he'll sell to buy their votes with.

And No, I'm not voting for Bush, I'll vote libretarian barring a major candidate coming out in support of the 2nd amendmant.  Even if I did vote for Bushwhacker, the rest of the freshly registered SOB (south of the border)voters will be more than happy to counter my vote with their votes for whoever the Dems run.

If you are serious about not having the AWB renenwed, then you are looking too far down the road.  If you can ensure that congress won't pass the law, then you don't have to worry about Bush tossing your rights to the wind.

Say, is the water getting warm yet?  I can't tell it's warming so gradually...but stay comfy guys, I'm sure it's nothing.

And George W. Bush is to be held responsible for that....why?

What should the government be required to do in order to make certain that [s]alles[/s] all have a decent job?

I would hate to tell you some of the jobs that I have been forced to take at times in my life.

I never thought of blaming it on the government in general or the President in particular!

I don't blame Bush for the recession - he inherited it from the Clinton administration.  However I think he's shown a huge lack of attention to the equally huge demographic of laid off workers in this country.

During the 80's the plight of the American blue collar worker (the beaten down farmer, the laid off auto assembly line worker, etc) was an issue that many elections were hinged on.  Even the media rallied behind these guys - they made movies about them, TV documentaries, and even Bruce Springsteen wrote songs about them - and don't forget about Farm Aid.

Now theres a new demographic thats laid off and down on their luck, yet we don't get mentioned much in the news, and Bruce Springsteen sure as hell isn't writing songs about us - I guess its not as cool singing about a laid off software developer, eh Bruce?  Personally I don't care, except that it bothers me that the president I helped put into office hasn't said or done much to reflect any sympathy or support to us white collar refugees and other individuals affected by the recession who are completely out of work or just holding our heads above water.  After he gets his way with Iraq maybe things will pick up.

Do you guys honestly think that GWB will ease up on the AW laws?  If anything, he'll make them more stronger.  Remember, he is another politician that is out for himself!  I hope we get some better canidates in 2004, because I don't care that much for Gore or Bush!
