I also don't think some of you conspiracy retards understand how warrants work.

There is a point, but most retards would miss it...

There is absolutely no reason why a safe company should have a backdoor into a safe, or be able to give to anyone other than the owner.

Just the fact that one exists is a very bad thing.

Sure, they can say it is if the owner forgets the password, but in this case, they were faced with a subpoena and they gave it up.

They are backpedaling now and are going to let the buyer choose to have it or not, which is how it should have been handled all along.

Or at least a disclaimer, saying they had a backdoor code that could get into the safe if needed.

Have you ever written a warrant? It’s very likely after what they list what they’re looking for (documents, mobile communication devices, whatever) they include open and locked containers (safe) which could reasonably contain said items. When Liberty is provided a subpoena for the codes with the accompanied warrant, they need to provide the information if they have it.

Apple proved they couldn’t comply with opening phones because they designed the software with no back door access. They would have complied if they could access them. Liberty could do the same, but keeps codes for customer service reasons. At any rate, the feds could always hire a locksmith or cut into it.

A safe only buys time against a common thief.

Well, I agree with the first part, but it's pretty sad that Liberty handed over the code when they had no legal obligation to do so, when Apple has refused to assist the FBI even when they are investigating a foreign terrorist, and has gone to court to defend that refusal. Thus, Liberty owns the criticism they are getting today, although you've got to give them credit for quickly revising the related policy.

I also think folks' tin foil hats are a little tight if they think Liberty maintains these codes for any reason other than to help a consumer who's locked out.

Apple is on much stronger legal footing.  If Liberty took the Apple approach, Liberty wouldn’t have had the codes in the first place.

I agree 100%. I also think there is no peaceful fix left at this point, as the criminals are running the prison and control every tool that could fix it, media, courts, congress, senate, White House, three letters,  etc, are all on board, with the education system , media and social media all busy cheerleading, covering up, ridiculing opposition, brain washing our youth and citizens and cranking out new radical true believer voters / supporters / foot soldiers.

I also believe posts like this , like your and mine will soon be enough for the FIB to raid your house,  in the next 20 years at most, for the same charges as in the OPs FIB raid. Tormenting unrest, organizing and spreading untruthful hateful terroristic beliefs, anti government speech, undermining democracy, undermining faith in democracy / voting, etc, etc.

In many countries  Shitposting about hating government and its agencies will quickly  get you special attention by government agents, and a nice prison cell, and we, the USA are rapidly getting there ourselves, and make no mistake, it absolutely “ can happen here”, and is happening here, right before your eyes.

It’s easy to see if you’re not ignoring the growing number of signs and outside enjoying life and actually  looking at those sinister dark clouds on the horizon, and what they represent , and do the math to see where it leads.  It leads to a all powerful tyrannical corrupt government who won’t tolerate being criticized, or especially ridiculed, and it will demand everyone follow certain rules, like not speaking, criticizing, ridiculing, assembling, or protesting government . To do so will get your house raided, you, your family, friends fired, turned down for loans, blocked from traveling, accounts seized, watched, monitored, jailed, or disappeared.

Call me a paranoid doomer all you want, you can’t say Iv not tried to warn you , and when you wake up one day soon shocked at some tyranny government is heaping on you and yours and no peaceful, legal recourse remains to fix it, you will wish you had perhaps taken peoples warnings more seriously, and done more, way  back when it was maybe fixable using the system.

Thank You for telling us all you don't know or understand anything about the actual law, while pretending you do.

Almost every issued arrest warrant will also include a broad search warrant for the Home & Vehicle. Standard Procedure.  your locked safe is just like your locked automobile trunk - neither are exempt.

Evidently January 6th boi was identified specifically to the point the Authorities presented their evidence to a Judge, who after reviewing said evidence then Authorized the Arrest & Search Warrants.

The Authorities don't need to see you have a certain gun in your hand to search your gun safe with their warrant while performing the arrest.  If the Authorities come to arrest you for say 'drugs' or 'domestic violence', and then find you have a Glock switch or Bump Stock or 3d printed AutoSear or a unregistered Braced AR pistol or other Naughty No-No Insta-felon stuff you are still busted because the contraband was found in the legal & lawful arrest & search.  Your attorney can file motions & argue to try to suppress that evidence, but as they say "Good Luck With That".

Evidence huh.  Used to convince a “ honest judge” to give them a warrant based on good faith to ransack a man’s home and life.

You mean the same government that created fake evidence ( Hillary), and turned it to the FBI, who KNEW it was fake, then passed it to a judge as evidence/ reasons to get wire tapping warrants, which Obama / Biden knew were based on bullshit, to wire tap political opponents campaign? I’m assuming they also rummaged thru the rest of the opponents life as well, financially, bank information, etc

Based off fake evidence, and no one was really ever held accountable. The same people, same minions implicated in a wide variety of other cover ups, smear campaigns, lies, abuses of power, shady dealings, bribery, kick backs, paid by foreign enemies to undermine the security of the USA.  The same government that’s implicated in several ways for instigating , agitating using undercover federal agents on Jan 6, who ushered citizens inside the capital, and helped create the very event they are now targeting people for?    Lol.

These are the people we are supposed to “ trust” to do the right thing, and tell the truth, present actual real evidence they discovered and didn’t plant themselves or manufacture, when there’s real evidence of them doing just that, lying, creating fake evidence and targeting political opponents and their supporters, and people who become a threat to them, leakers, whistle blowers, witnesses, etc.

No doubt.  They clearly didn't think about this decision very long, or it was made by a lower-level employee, because the optics are horrible for a company with a largely conservative consumer base.

The feds were getting into the safe no matter what, but Liberty really should have stood up and said they weren't going to provide anything without a subpoena. I also have no doubt the feds could have gotten a January 6th judge to issue whatever they needed within a couple hours, but if I was Liberty, I would have held my ground and made them do it, if only so I could explain to my customers why I did.

No doubt, but I don't think that's the issue.

By refusing, the owner should have known they would likely take destructive measures to gain access.  And I assume he was comfortable with that decision.  Or he vastly overrated the integrity of his safe and underestimated how quickly you can gain access to most RSCs with a $20 Harbor Freight angle grinder.  Spoiler alert - they ignore that impressive door and just go in through the top, side, or back.

Hammer still believes that if we ignore the problem hard enough, the problem will go away. I'm not sure how he could believe that given that even a shallow look at history tells one horrific story after another of citizens who did that and ended up murdered by their own government. The democrats mean to seize absolute power. They want it all. And they are playing for all of the marbles. They will tolerate no restrictions on their power and control. It's why they so bitterly hate the Constitution and are doing everything they can to weaken it so they can get rid of it entirely. Anyone who can't see that hasn't been paying attention.

We have to stop pretending we still live under the rule of law. We don't. We have rogue agencies doing the bidding of a rogue government under the absolute control of a communist political party that has wet dreams of subjugating us all under a boot. Sooner or later, everyone is going to have to pick a side. The communists will force the issue. Just like they always do in everything they touch. With the election next year, The Party is going to go utterly insane to make sure that no matter what happens, a democrat-communist is installed for the '24-'28 term. We can ignore that but we will do so at our peril.

Be nice if that were true, truth is in 4 more years, after 4 more years of Biden / newsome, etc, we will remember 2020-2024 as the " good old days", back when we were just " getting the tip", of the government's tyrannical cock, as after 4 more years were well onto the shaft, with more shaft created by the day.

I've NEVER said "Ignore the problem and it will all go away".  If you can find where I've said that - I'll log off for a Month.  Meanwhile take a step away from the Alex Jones Crazy Gas & breath some air.

*  I've always said it is critical to be INVOLVED and to DO STUFF (get involved & participate in your local Conservative Party).
*  Election Concerns? Be a Poll Watcher or Election Worker.
*  Go VOTE in every single Election and be ACTIVE to bring others to Vote.
*  Be involved & participate in your local, county & state Politics (all change begins at home).  When Texas was debating "Constitutional Carry" I took a day away from work, drove 4.5 hours in pouring rain to the state capital in Austin, sat for 8 hours just to testify in front of the committee members (legislators) for Two Minutes in favor of expanding our Gun Rights in Texas, then drove 4.5 hours back home in pouring rain.
*  Every Election, I'm that guy in the HomeTown Texas forum reminding Texans to GO VOTE & providing the dates for both early or in person election days.
*  I've been posting in the Texas Forum about political happenings in the State (Tx Atty general is getting impeached) to be sure people who want to know what is happening can.
*  I go out and network with other ARFCOM members around Texas - usually casual meals & drinks but occasionally we head out to the ranges to shoot. Practice makes perfect!
*  I brought my young son out to one of the Capital Gun Rights Protest Days just so he could see & experience what Democracy & Advocacy in Action was.
*  I Went to Richmond Virginia for Lobby Day 2020 and met other members from all over the Country.   I didn't have to drive half way across America & back to do so, but I felt it important to peacefully protest for the rights of my fellow American gun owners in Virginia.  Next Election they defeated their Democratic Governor.
*  I've always shown up for Jury Duty instead of boasting about getting out of it or shirking it like many here do.

I've been hearing Alex Jones / "Q" type crazy shit for over two decades. Y2K is going to kill everybody!  The Clintons are going to allow Blue Helmet UN "Peace Keepers" to round up the Patriots.  That Chemtrails are air delivered toxins to kill the majority of Americans.  That Obama is building hundreds of Secret FEMA death camps and that railroad cars have chains in them for prisoners. (Auto transporters and the chains are to secure the vehicles while being transported) and enough other nutty "Q" and Alex Jones shit that it would be easy to believe it's all complete Doom & Gloom & The Commies are going to lock the Patriots into old Drive in Movies & make them watch propaganda films like something out of "Red Dawn".   JFC.   If you want to lock yourself away in some doom bunker - that's your call.  I'd rather prevent the disaster in the first place.

If you look at election numbers in America - even though some candidate may have a overwhelming win in the ELECTORAL College, most election totals are actually fairly close to each other.   It is the Middle that decides elections and thus the fate of what may follow.  I believe that Conservatives - acting with vigor & smarts - can win back the lost middle.  Call me crazy or whatever, but I'm going to use the tools our founding fathers wisely gave us & rally others to affect the positive change to try to bring America back on course.

and of course we still have that "4th box" to fall back upon as a last resort if we really need it.

A cheap angle grinder from Harbor Freight will get you in to pretty much any commercial gun safe. The sides and back aren’t armored.

Exactly. In a just world a judge may actually review the request and wonder why they need access to a gun safe that is completely unrelated to the criminal case against him.

Yeah, if the Cust-DUH-mer loses/forgets their password, they can just buy a new safe. If cutting it open damages the contents..,,not their horse, not their rodeo.

Not according to Liberty. They stated Mr. Hughes was served with a warrant, and upon seeing a copy of that warrant, voluntarily, and without any legal obligation, surrendered a master code to Mr. Hughes' safe.

Back around 1991, we got a call to help serve a warrant on a guy named Greg Garbe in Tulsa. His parents were rich and owned a big interior decorating store. Greg was allegedly caught with porn and illegal weapons so they got a search warrant for his place and found 4 or 5 gun safes and he refused to give up the combinations. About a hundred guns and about 3k of ammo...I know several members here who have personal collections bigger than that

The locks were pretty simple, Sargent & Greenleaf IIRC, and since we had custody of the safes we had infinite time to get into them.
My boss first suggested we used an "auto-dialer" and get the combinations in a day or two without fucking up the safes

WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO USE DESTRUCTIVE METHODS OF ENTRY. I'm not sure who gave that order but I'm pretty sure it was one of the RAC's at one of the Tulsa .fed offices, I won't say which one because he's retired now, but he was really pissed off Garbe wouldn't give them the numbers. It was a little "fuck you, then we'll destroy your legal property"

...so we destroyed 5 privately owned safes, for absolutely no good reason

IIRC, the charges that actually stuck were bullshit. He couldn't find his paperwork on one silencer or something like that

Garbe DID end up deaded by suspicious means out by Keystone Lake shortly after...never did hear what ended up with that
