That is a major reason... also the fact that it has universal military training... and all of it's citizens keep there duty weapons in their home ready to go... The swiss are toughies... Israel is the same aswell... j0hn |

Ding Ding Ding, we have a losah!!! For about the 12th time in this thread, Hitler WANTED SWITZERLAND. Doesn't matter if it was worth it or if they had natural resources or strategic value, he wanted it. For all we know he just wanted some good chocolate, but the fact is Hitler wanted Switzerland. Isn't that what this topic is about, btw? |

Could you elaborate on this a little, in the end it all comes down to what you believe in? If an armed populace is not a deterrent and the Swiss being synonymous with the doctrine itself what does that say about your beliefs in on of the most important aspects of the second amendment? Also Austrian thank you for a very informative post and history lesson. |

Didn't you know : Liechtenstein! ok, ok: after 1848 (declaration of modern Switzerland) none to speak of. before 1848: too many to list. There was always some kind of war going on in ol'e Europe. |
