No college. I went from high school, to the Marine Corps, and right into the trades. I've been an electrician for 26 years now, and have never starved.

Boiled potatoes because that's the only way I knew how to cook them.

In between jobs, my grandpa bought me a 20lb sack, boiled potatoes is what I ate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two weeks.

Macaroni and cheese with chopped and sautéed ham, peppers and onions mixed in.

I also did chicken and Chinese veggies in a wok over white rice.

generic hot dogs from Winco were pretty much the cheapest source of protein available. Eggs might have been slightly cheaper but not much.

I do ramen with tuna, mac 'n' cheese deserves sliced up hot dogs.

For fancy, I quite like pork loin chops cooked with a chopped onion, bell pepper, garlic bulb, and rosemary. Served on rice, with some frozen  broccoli on sale for  < $1.

I commuted from home during undergrad, but moved away to SF for dental school. In SF, I ate things like packets of ketchup from the cafeteria. But, most memorable of cheap foods, not the cheapest, was this Chinese place which had a "Three of any item" take-out for $1.75. I think it was Ping's on Judah or Irving Street in San Francisco.

Lucky my roommate was a manager at a local papa Johns. (Roommate did not go to college just lived in the same house)

So, we had a ton of Papa Johns and Beer....

My parent's gave me lunch money, so I ate well.  Usually a restaurant around campus, but when I wanted a cheap meal quick, I would drive to Sam's club and grab a polish hot dog and drink for 1.50 or pizza and drink for 2.50.

Wasn't in college, just a lowly GS-2. Mac and cheese with ground elk burger. I was lucky enough to draw elk tags every year I was dirt poor. I would trade 25lbs of meat to have my buddy let me use his butcher setup.

Manager at the grocery store I worked would let us take home expired bread. I'd buy a jar of spaghetti sauce and a 12 pack of "cheese food" slices.
Bread + spaghetti + cheese = pizza sandwiches for the week.

After your water boils real good, before you add the ramen, slowly add an egg or two while stirring. Then add the ramen.

Chicken ramen, frozen mixed vegetables, tuna.  I would sometimes add grated cheddar cheese.

I ate that for lunch many times when I was in the Navy.

Also, beef ramen with green beans and browned hamburger with a dash of Worcestershire sauce.

Back at the turn of the century, the local McDonald's in Panama City, FL would run $0.59 burger nights on Wednesday.  I'd go and buy them 2-3 dozen at a time and we'd eat them for a couple of days.

Would make a pot of chili and eat on it for a week or so along with a pack of 69 cent hotdogs. Every once in a while I'd get home and my grandmother had come over to clean and do laundry and would bring some real food. She would also take the liberty of paying my bills and balancing my checkbook. The woman is a saint!!

Breakfast - Oatmeal
Lunch - Potted meat sandwich

I worked part time (days) in the ME department and part time (nights) @ a pizza place.  I had plenty of money but loved oatmeal and potted meat sandwiches .. and free pizza.

the kroger by me runs a buy 1, get 2 free sale when meat is nearing the end of its 'sell by' date.  chicken breasts usually come out to ~$1.50/lb, and beef ranges between $2-$3.50/lb.  so i pick up 3 of whatever, throw 1 in the fridge, and the other 2 in the freezer.

fast bachelor meal #1: stir fry with whatever protein and vegetables are at hand.  total meal cost is probably $2-$3, including protein, rice, veg, and whatever i use to make the sauce.  20 min prep time (only because the rice needs that long to cook).

fast bachelor meal #2:  fajitas.  petite sirloin marinated and thrown on skillet, grated cheddar, onion (and peppers if i have one).  prep takes 10 minutes (excluding marinate time).  huge meal probably costs $6, normal meal is probably $4.  chicken bumps that down substantially.

fast bachelor meals #3-6:  the holy pot roast trinity.  on a good sale, you can get pot roast for ~$3.50/lb.  prep time is basically nothing--you throw some stuff in the crock pot and ignore it for a really long time.  only inconvenient thing is the drooling, due to the beautiful aromas that small up the house long before you can actually eat it.

day 1: eat the pot roast as pot roast.

day 2: eat the pot roast as sandwiches.

day 3: eat the pot roast as tacos.

Jewish sorority loaded with east coast and Lake Shore Drive girls .....wait tables get a free meal...all you can eat....
They had a pretty decent chef and had excellent chow
One got pretty nasty with me called me some kinda goyim idiot.....didn't know what that was so I poured a gravy boat over her head.
A couple of days later I saw her between classes and she apologized and asked me out...
I don't like pushy girls (well actually I kinda do) I declined anyway....
Quit school and went to work for the railroad.... money was good and I was on the road eating out every meal and the company picked up the tab....

Breakfast would usually be some hard boiled eggs with an apple or banana.

Dinner, usually some mac n cheese with whatever cheap meat we could find at the grocery store mixed in.  Tuna, hot dogs, chicken, etc.  Spaghetti noodles with a can of diced tomatoes was pretty cheap too.  If necessary, the Asian grocery store has a bunch of different types of ramen and stuff that beat the "American" stuff

if a student doesn't have eggs in the fridge, he doesn't know what he is doing.  eggs are tasty, nutritious, ridiculously easy to cook, and most of all cheap.

getting laid in college is easy.  want to get laid again?  throw down a french-style omelette for the girl the next morning.  takes about 5 minutes, 3 eggs, and a pan.  not only will she think you are god, she will tell all her girlfriends about the guy who was so cool that he made breakfast for her.  they will start hunting you.
