M16A2 right before I started boot camp USMC San Diego 1985. My recruiter "borrowed" a couple of M16's to let us have some trigger time before we got shipped off.

A SPAS-12 shotgun set on semi-auto, from a rest with the stock folded.
Yep, my very first gun too. |
+1 Same here except they would let us have the magazine occasionally. |
For me it was some bolt action .22 rifle. Then I fired a S&W Model 27 in .357 Magnum. I was only 11 at the time.

M1 Garand that belonged to my grandfather. he passed away a few months ago and now it' mine. It will be one of those that I will keep to pass on.

Bolt action .22 at boy scout camp. Not sure of model either.
No wonder the libtards hate the scouts so much, they made me a gun nut |

Marlin Model 60 - Dad got it for me when I was 4 and I got it for my 5th Bday. He kept it until I was 13...and then it was mine to keep and care for. At around 5-6 I learned how to shoot it at tin cans and what not....the start of a lifelong pastime. The very next 'real' thing I shot was a .303British Lee Enfield....at age 12, and at about the same time, a Mossberg 20ga pump shotgun.

.44 Magnum Ruger Super Blackhawk when I was but 6 years old.
My father and his friend Joe who owned it were shooting it on our property, and I kept clamoring to try it. I had been shooting air rifles supervised for a month or so. My Dad got tired of listening to me, and thought it would scare me into shutting up AND build on the a healthy respect for firearms he was teaching me if he very carefully loaded one round and helped me shoot the beast, figuring he'd catch me right after I landed on my ass bawling and shut up about wanting to try the big boy guns. Well, I popped that fucker off, staggered back about a half step, into Dad's arms (He was right behind me, as always) and a HUGE grin split my face...I looked at my Pop and said "THAT was FUN, Can I shoot it again??????????" He has since told me he knew right then that he'd created a monster. I've loved to shoot ever since. Thanks, Dad. SG |

.22 and then .410.
Then the thing that changed my outlook on firearms forever; a HK91 w/ bipod and smoke clear mags. It was 1983 and I was 13 y.o. This was the firearm that totally fucking derranged me and I remain financially challenged ever since. |
A Winchester bolt action .22 short, don't know if it counts as a "real gun" however. I guess I was eight years old. My dad used to shoot the little winchester when he was a kid too. I still have it.
About the same time as that my dad let me shoot his Colt Python .357....holy cow!!! I still don't like revolvers that much but we have a couple anyway. Mostly I shoot my 1911 and the black rifles. Sometime we bring the wheel-guns out to the range and blow the cob-webs off. I really need to get back to work and quit surffing ARFCOM...... Flyer |
Red rider BB gun must of been born in my hands, but the first real gun
Dad's remington 870 express standing on a pond bank when I was about 8 yrs old. KaBoom!! OUCH!!, but I liked it. |
Remington Nylon 66. A friend's Dad took us to the range and then rabbit hunting in the California desert. I think I was around 10. Unfortunately there was no safety lesson. I almost got shot when my friend took a shot while standing behind me...

It was my father's 67A. The 'receiver' later cracked on it and the case head ruptured to vent gas back into my face. Found another one that I got just to be a wall hanger. wganz ¶ |

The First gun I shot was a Colt Combat Commander 1911 .45ACP when I was 8. The next gun I shot was a Mossberg 12ga Pump. I didn't get a .22 (ruger 10/22) until I was ten.
My dad shure new how to start a boy |
Mossberg 12GA...Still own it. It was the 1st gun that was ever mine. I think I have cleaned it about 6 times...Still going. I can signal an airplane how some of the bluing has worn off.

I shot a 4 gauge roadmax when i was 12 and it dislocated my arm. My dad told me I was on the happy end of the weapon, and that pretty much instilled my respect for the capabilities of firearms. Ive been a weapon saftey asswad since. Pisses some people off, but whatever, I can say I told you so when some kid sweeps a line of shooters at a range with an ar because of a match trigger. (Happened last weekend but he was on the line so they shots just flew stray all over the damn range)

My first shot was through my Marlin 60 I believe. Bought for me by my Dad when I was about 3, fired for the first time somewhere around my 5th birthday. I was a hell of a shot with that rifle, still shoot it very well. Being introduced to shotguns killed my rifle shooting for a while, but I was back in the saddle in no time.
First shotgun was a 20 ga. single shot Stevens Dad got for 15 dollars. Soon replaced by my Mossberg Bantam 20 ga. First handgun was S&W 422 .22 LR. |
Stevens Favorite when I was 6 or 7 yrs old. Belonged to my grandfather, my father & his brothers used it in the 1920's. My brother got the rifle, I got my grandfather's double barrel shotgun - he bought it new for $16.00 when he was 18 in 1910.

SInce I'm a really late starter, it was a Glock 27. (.40)
I was concentrating so hard on holding on to the tiny grip, that somehow I ended up with my thumb along the slide (don't ask, I have no idea how!) and ended up with a nice gash in my thumb from it. |

DaisyBB gun at a 4-H gun safety course. Was given 3 BB's and when I got the target back it only had two holes in it. Upon examination the range boss decided I'd put two in the same spot and missed doing the third by a small margin. Always remember that day as I've never shot better (been luckier at times but never as consistent) and that was almost 40 years ago.

IN the army 11 B ... M16 Rifle..................Everything else is a plus+++
Yes INfantry, 11 B Fort Benning Georgia.............. |

My Dad's .357. He was an Arkansas State Trooper and we went out one afternoon on a ditch bank about 1/4 mile from the house and shot his duty gun. From pictures I have of him in uniform, it was a Smith & Wesson Model 28 4" (also called the "Highway Patrolman" IIRC). I was 5 years old.
My Dad is completely responsible for my gun fanaticism. He taught me how to shoot, how to have respect for guns and be safe with them. He bought me my first gun, a FIE .410 shotgun, my first rifle, a Marlin Model 60 .22 semiauto. I love my Dad, he is an outstanding person. |
Colt Match Target 22 pistol when I turned 12. Dad took me to a gravel pit to shoot it.
I own that gun now, and will always treasure it. Got my first Daisy BB gun on my nineth birthday. 10 pumps, and with a pellet, could do some damage... |
Your Dad taught you well, great man indeed. |
my grand dad's old 20 guage remington pump...loved that sucka
First .22 rifle at an indoor range at Ft Hood Texas. One of the single shot target 22s. Possibly a 52 of some variation. Big and heavy. Don't know for sure. The old Junior NRA program. Early 60's.
First centerfire rifle: 30-40 Krag. |
7 years old, Marlin Golden 39A. Shortly afterwards, Winchester 77 (it was easier for me to use at that age), then he bought me my 1st gun, Savage 24S 22/.410 combo. Still have and shoot them all.
Think it was a .22 something when I was 4 or so, but the one I know for certain is the Mini 14 that I have shot since I was 5 or 6.
