Nice!  Perfect choice to use the 200gr XTP for hunting.  How did the bullets look (assuming you recovered them)?
View Quote

All of them passed through.  Even the one that hit the spin of the first doe.  I was really hoping to recover a bullet this year but all rounds passed clean thru, but the deer didn't go anywhere so I can't complain too much.

Love the Silvertips, but never see them anymore.
GSL, any idea what your FFL sells them for?

I have 5-6 loads for our G-20's, mostly critical defense for around town and underwood 200 hard cast for the woods...also have all in underwood, the 135's, the 140 penetrators, the 180 and 200 XTP's....I also reload, but haven't found exactly what I want there yet...

You are correct, although the brass is actually necked down .451 Detonics since .45 ACP is too weak.  .40 Super is my all time favorite caliber so I pimp it every chance I get, ha ha.

For years I kept my Glock 20 loaded with Cor-Bon 135gr

About a year or more ago my neighbor's lab was attacked by three pitbulls while I was out planting bushes.

Two neighbor ladies came out and tried to separate the dogs when the Alpha pitbull released the lab and attacked her taking her to the ground.

I was already heading over with the shovel I was using but when I saw the dog go for the woman I ran inside and grabbed the G20

Once I arrived the Alpha had released the woman and was back on the lab. It had pushed the lab through their open front door and pinned it against a couch where it was on the dogs throat.

I fired one round into the Alpha pit's heart killing it instantly. The round performed as designed and the dog dropped like it was hit by lightning.

After the incident I decided it was likely time to swap out the 10 year old Cor-Bon ammo.

I contacted Cor-Bon and described the incident in an email. They raved about the increased performance they were seeing from their DPX round over the 135gr Sierra bullet I used.

I bought 4 boxes of their DPX 10mm load and shot a box up to insure reliability and accuracy in my gen3 G20.

I don't doubt it dropped DRT.

The 135 gr doesn't get the FBI's 12" of penetration, but the results seem pretty devastating.  I imagine with the diameter of the bullet and velocity there's a pretty good amount of hydro-static shock.

Glock 20 using Double Tap 135gr Vs. Cows heart and pork ribs as simulated body

I usually carry 9mm anyways, but with the larger bullets over-penetration becomes a concern.  I got Underwood 135gr and 165gr.

I hardly keep track of those things these days. Let me know when the next one is inbound, maybe we can do breakfast beforehand and then go afterwards so I can show you the guy.

I'll be honest, I've never taken anything with my G20.

I carry 180gr Underwood GD (1350), and DT 200gr Nosler HPs (1250)

I usually carry the DTs, because I prefer heavier bullets. (Must be the .45 in me...)

I have tons of loads from 125 to 230, but those are what I like and shoot the best.

The Silvertip is hard to find now?

I bought a whole bunch back in the day.

It's too good to use regularly at the range, but I prefer other loadings personally.

If you want to trade a box or two, PM me.

I'll just have to go to the bank and make a MASSIVE ENERGY DEPOSIT and resultant parabolic, room-crossing arc for some hapless bad guy.

Funny enough, that's where I am.

I don't shoot them at the range, but I choose other rounds for carrying. So I don't want to waste them on paper, nor carry them. (It's not that they're awful, I just prefer slightly heavier rounds.) So there they sit.

You want to talk about an incredible energy release, the results of the Hog Hammer in .223 was something else this morning. Where it started to expand and released it's energy finally, it nearly split the ballistic gel block in two.

135 gr Federal Guard Dog Expanding Full Metal Jacket handloaded in virgin 10mm starline brass. 1250 FPS from my G29 stock barrel using Long Shot and CCI #350.

According to Lucky Gunner, these should get to ~14" ballistic gelatin at 1250 ft/s and expand approximately 65%.

While the 135 gr Nosler JHP is fun to shoot, some of the Big'Un's down here in the south probably could stand to loose 6-10" outer man boob in the superficial "flesh wound" that the 135 can generate; if I was stuck fighting ethopians they'd be perfect.

For hunting, I plan on loading 105 gr Monolithic Copper/Tin/Nickel rounds I picked up off GB. With Long Shot, I'm hoping for 1700 FPS which should penetrate 25-30", comparable to a 200 gr XTP but with half the recoil/weight. Check them out. Incidentally, I suspect they could penetrate significant "conventional barriers" as well.

Also, in response to CChurchi's 40 Super talk, I've gotten the 135 gr EFMJ up over 1500 ft/s from my FNX-45T w/ the EF Fire Dragon Barrel... Hoping for over 1650 ft/s once I load some with N105. Might make for an all around perfect "North 'Merica" round.
