I am carrying 8+1 just like OP.  G43.  Doesn't look as fancy, but it also doesn't heat up and weighs a lot less.

Uniformed off-duty LEO's at every door and two more at the parking lot entrance.  I'll have something in the car for the driving to and from but don't feel the need to CCW in church.  Rather focus on Him than a weapon digging into my back and/or spooking all the blue-hairs and kids.  Just not that much of an operator or bad ass I guess.

I just got in on the Shield deal, but haven't broken it in just yet.  So I didn't feel comfortable wearing it without proving it.

I wore my Dad's and despite the smaller capacity, it was NICE.  So thin, so much less poking me.

But being the only armed person (that I know of) in the place, if all heck breaks loose it's me until the police get there.  So I prefer to have the most rounds I can get.

Eventually I'll ask the pastor if he cares if I get a good enough vibe, he's actually a NG Chaplin. But until then it's the same as any other time I carry at church, I leave the bigger Glock 30s at home and carry the little LCP since it doesn't print....at all.

Got'cha on the desire for the vibe..but why do so many downsize on Sunday?  Take the 45 to WalMart six days a week, but when I go to church with my family and like minded people, I carry the smallest gun I can...never made sense to me.  Exercise your God given Constitutional rights seven days a week.  If a man doesn't agree with it, move on.

A warm day that was too warm to wear a jacket, so no paddle with a 1911 today.  Pocket carried a Bodyguard with an extra mag in the opposite pocket.  No worry about upsetting the blue hairs, since probably half of them are CCW-ing something in their purses.

The old ladies around here who live alone are damn near paranoid and arm themselves accordingly.

Simpler than you think. Gun around the dress, not dress around the gun. I was in tx today, at my wife's old church (spent Easter with the inlaws). That pastor knows I carry, he carrys, couple of older Vietnam era ex mil carry, and I noticed one of the sons of one of the ex mil guys who is either a marine or former marine (can't remember if he is still in) with a 5:11 green gun belt on wearing a suit and tie. I chuckled as I shook his hand and greeted him. He knew he'd been made
Me, I was in tan dress pants, tucked dress shirt, dress belt and the aforementioned glock 36 in a crossbreed. I was surprised how well tuckable function worked. I need to buy a dress gun belt though. I had to since that bitch up way to tight to keep from getting the "I'm tottin" pant sag.
