Purchase? Back during the "preban" days, a Colt Competition HBAR prebam for 800.00 out the door.

At the most pricey gunshop in town, no less.

Remington Rand M1911A1.  Free.  Gift from coworker.  It's been refinished and the markings are faint, but the price was awesome.

I don't know you and I already hate you.

I don't buy a lot of guns so I don't have much to compare too but I bought my 340 Weatherby for $700.  It had only been fired once and it came with a nice Leupold VX-III Scopes on it.  I thought I did well.  I have to admit I was scared to death that I was being had the entire time buying it as it seemed too good of a deal to be true.

I bought an excellent condition Berreta 92FS with a case of black talons and 3 15rd mags for $200 from a police officer when I was 16!  Did the deal in his patrol car...he was getting rid of it because he just got a new Sig 357

Mine was an Oly arms XM-177 style carbine about 12 years ago. Bought it right before the ban for $450 IIRC, sold it about a year later for $1000.  Good GMROI...............

- About four years ago a guy I worked with told me he had a pistol he never shot, and wanted to move, and thought I would appreciate it.  I asked him what it was, he told me it was a custom Colt Anaconda, said he was asking $500 for it.  I told him I would take it right away, figuring A) I knew he took care of his firearms, and B) it's not often you can find an Anaconda at that price.

Well, turns out it's not an Anaconda, it's a Kodiak.

in 1996, Colt made 2500 of these for sale in Alaska only.  Magnaported, target trigger, target hammer, target sights, unfluted cylinder, it's a sweet handgun and very unique.

Those things suck , and the sights hurt when the bear jams it up your ass .

Traded SAR1 (paid $340 originally) for NIB Bushmaster LEO Carbine.  I'd say it was a fair deal

Like new H&K USP 45 compact.  $200   At the time I did not have much money and knew little about firearms.  I even thought that I might have been getting screwed.  To think another guy before me passed on this deal

Now I always seem to pay too much.
