Exactly what the title says.  Please no breed vs. mutt arguments.  If you like mutts, explain what combination you like best.

My favorite is the Alaskan Malamute.  Rascal pulls my ammo!

Hmm. Not sure, really. The only dog I've ever had is my current Golden Retriever, but she's dumb as a brick. Cute doggie, though, and sweet except when she steps on your feet or claws your arm.

Never been much into dogs, I have seen a few good ones though.  I dont care for dalmations or chows though.

For me, it's the bullmastiff without a doubt. Those dogs just have a personality that's all their own. And damn they are intelligent. Plus, they make good watch dogs as well, but they aren't quite so aggressive or as unstable as pit bulls. I'll never have another dog besides the bullmastiff.

In the pic, probably about 4.  She is about 5 1/2 now.  The Hound in her is making her more lazy these days, as she will spend the majority of her time in a little dog-loo made out of blankets and comforters on the bed.

But isn't she the cutest, most adorable, most benevolent looking world dictator you have ever seen?

Basset Hound, although I preffer my Blue Front Amazon (Elwood) to any dog any day. He's a hell of alot smarter than any dog I've ever known.

What part of TN are you in. I live in Asheville, NC. I have a friend who I work with that has a rehabilitation center for wolfs, and wolf mixes. He has about 26 last I saw. If your near the NC boarder, I'm sure he'd be happy to show it to you. He just asks for donations because he doesn't have any state or fedral funding.

pitbulls.

My current dog is half pit half english bulldog.  I love her to death, but I wouldn't go for that combo again.  All of her health issues can be traced back to the english bulldog side.

Eventually if I have a place with enough room I'd like a blue heeler.  I think the herding dogs like that are great companions.  I would never get one of the large purebreds (rotts, bullmastifs, mastifs, etc.) as they just have too many health problems.  It sucks to see your pal and sidekick in pain or getting sick.

Heelers are great dogs! (Did you know they are born white?) If you decide to get one, find sombody down there...should be quite a few in the middle of the state cattle belt...who is using them for work and get a pup from them. Better health, smarter, and all 'round a better dog. Understand, though, that a working line dog will have lots of "drive" (energy) and needs a "job". Either you give him one or he finds his own...and you ain't gonna like the one HE chooses! (Like remodeling your back yard or maybe the sofa and chairs! Hee hee.)
