If you tell her, "Get in the truck, bitch" would she know where to go?  Answering this question will answer your question.

Tahoes, Expeditions, Suburbans hell even Explorers you can get away with calling trucks seeing as how they are built on the same platforms. Silverado, F-150, Ranger and so on. Escapes and other "crossovers" are just tall station wagons with AWD.

The Explorer took a departure from the Ranger in 1995 and during the 2002.5 model change completely divorced itself from the Ranger line.  Even going back to the original Explorer there were numerous significant differences between the two.

My former boss has one of these:  http://image.trucktrend.com/f/9450445+w750+st0/163_news080401_02z+2008_ford_hybrids_tax_credit+2008_ford_escape_hybrid_rear.jpg  But today her husband took it, and she was driving his Mustang.

She kept referring to it as her "truck".  It took a lot in me not to correct her and call it an SUV.

Come on, here in IL, trucks have truck plates; not even a Suburban is a truck according to the S.o.S. Office.

When my sister bought her '96 Blazer, my mom asked the dealer what kind of plates it needed.

And for a long time in Indiana you could tag an SUV either way, car or truck.  However, if you tagged it as a car, you had to follow the passenger car seatbelt laws instead of the truck laws which were more lax.  Tag it as a car and you could wind up with a fistfull of seatbelt tickets.

I call my "06 Sorento a truck because it has a frame.
They just put a different body on it for the U.S.market.
Now the newer ones are a unibody so I would call them an SUV.

Car.

SUV's are either cars or trucks, IMHO.

That, my friend, is a glorified station wagon.

A Suburban, or a S10 Blazer, is a truck.  It's a cab on a truck frame, what's underneath is the same.

That, however, is a station wagon.

It's a SUV, but it's a lousy example of one.  At work, we have two of the law enforcement models ( I work in private security) and they suck for a multitude of reasons.   I could probably start my own thread outlining everything that is bad and wrong about the Ford Escape.

Calling a Suburban a truck is more accurate than calling what's in the OP a truck.  Suburbans are built on a 1/2 ton pickup frame and chassis.
