I think, deep down - besides Clinton, Schumer, Feinstein, McCarthy, and the true believers, the completely evil ones - the Dems in Congress know that if they push for and get a serious BAN ban, they're likely to spark violence. They'll have entire state governments telling them to fuck off right off the bat, and massive noncompliance and possibly open resistance in the rural areas of other states.
All they'll have is the cities, and shit will go downhill quick. Hell, all it would take is one stupid redneck with an overdeveloped sense of irony sticking a congresscritter with a bow and arrow during a public speech just to make a statement, and then it's fucking Thunderdome. 
We have two Americas right now inside the same border. The ties between them, across the city limits of the major metropolises, are tenuous at best right now. This is one of the few issues that could well and truly sunder that.

The BAN would work like this. You would be a FELON if caught with or using one just like the Tommy Gun. The reason I mention the Tommy Gun is about 10 years back I was at a local dealer and a old guy walked in with a Tommy Gun and asked if the dealer would buy it he needed some money. The dealer looked at me ( Sized me up just in case I might Squeal) and told the old guy "I am going to act like you never came in here. luckily for us, most congressmen only care about 1 thing....re-election. There are relatively few social justice warriors in either house who will fall on their sword to get legislation passed knowing it would cost them their seat. This is why nothing much has passed in terms of gun control since 94, because the fallout from the AWB cost them both houses and a ton of seats. This was further reinforced after a few states passed anti-gun legislation after sandy hook and then those senators got voted out of office or recalled.

The last thing the government wants to do is put legislation into place turning people into criminals for something they legally purchased. Creating a bunch of smart criminals - who are armed - is not a good idea. That's exactly what I told my wife. There's about 8 millions AR's in the U.S. now and you have 4 no good shit stain mother fuckers that use them for mass murder and suddenly we are all criminals? Fuck off. |
