Pacific Ocean fish - fukashima radiation FTW!  Why else are the starfish along the Pacific Coast dying off?

Stopped by an old buddy's house on the way home from the range, I was bemoaning my lack of time for fishing and hunting endeavors, and the sad state of my freezer.

He allowed as how he needed to create some space in his for the upcoming archery season and pressed some venison and fish from last season on me.

Ate the fish for dinner last night, it was great, giant fillets out of the St. Johns

Are bass any good to eat?  I throw them back.

Several months ago I checked several frozen seafood items at a local Safeway.   Most were from China.

I pass on any edible from China.  None for me.   None for my boy (GSD/dog).

Bass are delicious, especially grilled. Not as good as crappie which are the best fresh water fish there is to eat. JMHO/YMMV.

i just ate a bunch of croaker I caught the other day.  Let's see how much it cost.

No boat currently, so I went to a public pier.

Gas to get there and back: $30
Squid: $3
Shrimp (for bait) $6
Pier admission: $8
Bag of ice: $3

Cost $50

Meat yield after filleting: 1 lb

$50/lb

*Price of previous trip where we got skunked not included

I can't wait for striper season

All I ever eat is crappie ad blue gill. Plenty to catch to keep me fed well.  All are caught fro a local private quarry pond or the local big lakes.
