Now I really never will.  It was a cool feature that some internet jerks exploited to the max!

You dont need to open the attachment. It automatically downloads as soon as you highlight the message. You also dont have to have an address book. I dont have an address book and it sent about 50 messages including one to goatboy. The cpu remembers e-mails you sent and automatically starts sending it to them. I received this too and apologize to whoever got it. For some reason I cant clean it off of my cpu. Anyone have an idea?

Here is a link on how to manually clean it

If you dont want to get auto infected by every new virus that is created I would suggest not using Outlook as your email client. There are plenty free email clients out there.

That really depends on what version of Outlook you are using. I have outlook XP, this version will not let you open emails with what they consider Level 1 threats .pif is one of these. I have got most of the above mention emails and had zero problems. Heck even Norton 2002 hasn't had a chance to do its job.

I don't use POP3 or IMAP mail clients. I use Yahoo Mail almost exclusively. I get to scan any attachment before I download them so I have no virus problems. The main reason why I use it though is because I switched 5 ISPs in the last 2 years (from dial up to DSL, to DSL, to another DSL, then to cable) I eventually got sick of notifying everyone on my contact list of my email address changes so I stopped using my ISP's email.

How about Outlook Express 5 running on Win2k?

I do have Office XP and Office 2000, but Outlook on Office 2000 sometimes had trouble closing.  Does Outlook XP have trouble closing sometimes?

Ulysse_Nardin_1846- Outlook XP Doesn't have any problems that I have found yet. It closes just fine. I don't know about Outlook Express  on a W2K machine. But If you have Office XP I would use it.
