VW returning to their roots.  Good to see.  Hopefully it will be relatively inexpensive and basic (not too many bells & whistles in the base model).

I may have to buy one if they become available in our area.

Give it an air-cooled flat four and a 0-60 time of just under 12 minutes and I'd be all over it.

Electric can't be much worse than those old ~90hp gasoline powered vans.

Say what you want about electric vehicles, but being slow isn't a big problem.

Yeah... problem is VW shows some really cool concepts, like this one, a mid-engine turbo diesel roadster that would get amazing fuel economy, yet still be stupid fun to drive:

... and then they never produce 'em.

...and they will have ZERO emissions, and get 87 MPG.  (until the doctored-up software is discovered!)

The concept Microbus had AWD, 369 HP, and a 111 kWh battery pack that is said to be good for close to 300 miles of range. A 150 kW fast-charging system would get it from 0- to 80-percent in 30 minutes.
Holy shit.
300 miles going 55 on a flat road, 200 miles on the Interstate at 75, and 150 miles if you want to go for a drive in the mountains(just guessing).  It doesn't sound like anything you might want to take on a road trip, or get more than 75 miles from a charging station.

With an electric motor.

Maybe they could offer a towable charging station - A 20KW generator mounted on a trailer.

Looks like they took one of these and stretched it.

For the record, their roots are 'The People's Car' (hence the name) You know who's idea that was right?

Literally Hitler!

I agree.  In fact, it's downright utilitarian.  It's the Glock of vehicles.
Are you vouching for its reliably, too?

I wouldn't buy a European electric car. Europeans cannot do electric stuff to save their lives.

Electronic Gremlins galore.
Lucas Electrics...

There's a reason that Europe is noticeably absent for the top Tech/Electronic firms. There is no European Apple, Google, or Samsung.

Hate to admit it but I might be all over something like that just to rekindle the memories of what went down in the 70's VW bus of yore. It would have great contradiction value sitting in the drive next to my 4-door F150

I hope they make a camper version.

Electric cars get all sorts of free benefits--they can use HOV lanes, they get free parking and free electricity at lots of places.  Probably some tax benefits too.
