Does he take his boat out in the chop? I shudder to think about how that pig would handle off the coast up here with green water coming over the bow.

Never seen it out when it was very windy or the lake all stirred up.

My dad has a 38' Fountain C/C boat for gulf fishing and he can't run that fast by a LOT. They are rated for quad 300's and even those can't touch that pontoon boat within 15-20 mph.

I was reffering to twin in-boards.  All the go fasts arround here are running twin 454 or 500's

Pontoons are light.  That thing has a CG way far back, look at the power off trim. They also have lots of area.  That thing is a ripple away from kiting at that speed.  Even 50 MPH is  scary.

Exactly.  Aerodynamic low profile bass boats have caught a bad wave and flipped at 70mph.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UEETjztLqI.  To do so in a high profile, boxed shaped pontoon that is already back heavy is insane.

That boat looked like it was having trouble keeping the bow down already, let alone crossing a wake at 70

I bet if he did hydrofoils and long shank engines he'd do better.

I need to get down there and do some fishing.    We mostly go to Olney on vacation. E Fork Lake is kinda big.   But not like Shelby.

I had my walleye boat at 53mph, Nice calm morning , water as smooth as glass. That was fast enough for me.   Bro in law had me going 45 on a tube.   Nice calm night, . waves fuck that.

Big charter up on Mil Lacs fine with me , but those other dudes in the 16-20' boats are hard core.    They have my respect.

I would like to see it hit the wake from another boat like in that video of the people flying all over like rag dolls on board a boat that did the same.

Rednecks?

I didn't see no fishin poles in the water!

I didn't see any Budweiser or shirtless guys with beer guts either.

"Ima build me the fastest pontoon boat on the whole damn lake so's I can git to the best fishin spot before ever-body else."

Redneck DNA is the only thing that could provoke such an idea.

I can hit mid 70's in my Triton but prefer to run in the 60's, 100mph=a big fuck no.

While I'd like to have a 426 Hemi powered Donzi or similar, this thing is pretty cool.

I've done a hundred in a friend's Allison ,once.  Thats too damn fast for me on the water.

~40, 50-ish is plenty enough speed for me.  The fish will be there when I get there; and if they aint, fuck 'em.  I aint dyin for a G/D fish.

My dad's buddy had a race boat he built probably 20 years ago... I rode in it a few times when I was little. With three of us in there it'd do like 104...

Fun times, until you hit something.

Brad first one his class at tbe LOTO shootout at 83 mph about 5 years ago.  Been edging up in speed every year.  This year i think 114 was his speed and came close to blowing it over.  His closest competitor ran i think 104 but did it with twin I/O motors.  Impressive to watch but I'll pass on a ride.

Friends had a 15' Aluminum boat with a 50 horse Merc and Jet pump. That bitch would scream. But it was a bitch to steer with the tiller at full throttle.

My dad and I fish Mille Lacs several times a year in our 17' it's not a big deal.

We've been out on the center flats with 3-4' waves that occasionally wash over the bow.
It's always fun to see the trolling motor come all the way out of the water. That's just good walleye chop.

Worst I've ever been in was a summer I spent repairing boat engines. Some crazy person stripped a 16ft bottomliner (aka Bayliner) and put a rear cockpit area with forward v seating and put an old hp Merc 215 on the back of that thing which was rated for 130.

I got the motor going, can't remember what the issue was, and my old school German boss who used to race said lets go see how it runs. We put the boat in the creek and he dropped the hammer and that damn thing went 75-80 porpoising constantly. I wanted off that thing so bad.
