Stuff that a USN E-1 - E-3 would take care of. The AF's GSE was clean and shiny, though! Also saw the "one pickup truck to every two airmen" syndrome. AF personnel would have been appalled had they been forced to ride the bus from the admin side of the base to the ops side with the USN/USMC folks. The AF brought a *fleet* of trucks to our base - for about a half dozen planes that were on our base for all of three days. This doesn't count other vehicles used for maintenance - this was just to make it more convenient for the airmen to get around. Overstaffed pork barrel = USAF (from what I've seen) Good lord..... |

As a retired AF SNCO, I can pretty much guarantee this about the whiners at Bagram:
1. I'm 90% sure they are first term female or female influenced airman doing the whining. In my 20 years in the AF, 80% of all whiners were female. 2. These airman were non-volunteers for this TDY so they feel that they can whine with impunity. 3. Because they also have the reputation of being whiners at their home station, they were the first on the list to go to Bagram ;-). |

Whne you enter a COMBAT ZONE, the standards are gonna be low, it goes with the job. Everything else comes second. They have shelter, food, water, medical care, and a place do do thier jobs. Thats all they need until the fighting is done... then resources can be wasted on "rec centers", "dryers", "shorter chow lines" (wahhhh) and other such nonsense. The resoucres these crybabies want to waste flying in snivel gear could be used to bring in equipment that would save soldiers lives and make the job safer for those doing the actual fighting, but these crybabies don't care about anything but what makes them comfortable. How much mission essential equipmnet were Army units denied because the AF claimed it didn't have the resources to move it, while they were moving the crap to appease these crybabies. I wonder if it cost any soldiers lives. Hell, my USAR unit deploys stateside for AT and 75% of the time has worse conditions, it just goes with the job. Shit, they are actualy using real buildings instead of tents for some operations, for my unit any hard structure is a luxury. Every one of those guys who bitched should be attached to an Army unit for a NTC, CMTC or JRTC rotation, we train in conditions 50 times worse than those. They would never bitch again, if they made it the whole rotation! |

But when your rust bucket starts sliding beneath the waves because you have painted over the rust until all it was all rust or you need a ride to the war, who do you call? I have lived with every other branch of the service for long periods of time,,the AF has it best by far. We never have to write "PLEASE FLUSH" on the toliet or order our guys to bathe or wipe their asses. UNLIKE the Army or Navy. I happen to think the average AF enlisted guy would be a Captain in the Army. We have E-9's that do the jobs of generals and our job is more technical that combat oriented. As they say, the smarter the person the better he/she expects to be treated. The only thing I ever learned from the Army is that some people will steal anything. Lol. like the way the AF uses officers to fly RPV's, but the Army uses E-6's My GT score is 127, yours? I have had a few "average AF enlisted guys" transfer into the USAR when they moved into the area and there was no AF unit nearby.... They may not be a scientific sample but I have not been impressed. |
