Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I know its a Fiesta... his previous vids where Imprezas and a WRX... it was glorious Im just saying... That's an STi. I have one. Awesome car. But you wouldn't be able to drive like that in one of them to work. The one in the videos you've seen is a fully built rally car. Mine is modded and has 375whp (low reading dyno) and still wouldn't be able to do that. Don't get me wrong, the car moves, but you aren't doing that shit on dry pavement. that guy can drive can't rally though I keep pulling for Ken but there's too much talent overseas. I don't know if anyone will ever topple Sebastien Loeb, but it will be interesting to see if Sebastien Ogier can finally take a run at Loeb in 2012. This year I figured Mikko Hirvonen would have the best shot at Loeb but now that he has joined Citroen/Total for 2012, that is obviously not going to happen. Can't wait for the television coverage of WRC to start again on Velocity TV in 2012 .... |

The Ford Fiesta they gave me as a rental in Hawaii drove nothing like that. It had no balls and a complete lack of throttle response, among other issues, worst rental car I have ever gotten.
I wish they would have given me Ken Blocks Fiesta. |

Met him once at a local oval track where he was setting up for Martinsville. I've heard plenty of stories of people who didn't stay on his good side, though. One ended up with tire tracks across his hood. |

Did you say GT 2 RS ? I would so Fap to this. Tuners are getting 700+hp, she weighs 2880lbs. Usually referred to as "the Beast". Well here... http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/barbstuff/DSC_0044.jpg My buddy owns a high end detail shop (full paint correction) and works on gorgeous Porsches all the time. He had 1991 911 Turbo. Beautiful car. 911 Turbo My dad had one when I was in the 4th-6th grade. Had 13,000 miles on it, absolutely perfect and it was a black. Nothing luxury about it, just a street legal race car is what it felt like. Those early 90's porsches were some of the last fully hand made ones. The air cooled's = |

holy fuck that sounds terrible What you hear is something called "Bang Bang Anti-Lag" Basically, when he lets off the gas, the ECU dumps pure gas into the turbocharger where the gas combusts. This keeps the turbo spinning even though he's off the gas. This eliminates lag when he gets back on the gas. Normally, you'd have to wait for the turbo to spin up before you got full power. Its a brilliant solution to a difficult problem with turbocharged cars. The only problem is it destroys the "hot" impeller side of a turbo in a few hundred miles. So its only applicable to well funded race teams. I had an 04 STi. The first year it came to this country. It was a total ball. The AWD was heavily rear biased with no stability or traction control. You could steer the back end with the throttle. I eventually chipped it and put a cat-less down pipe on it. It was putting out around 380hp. All with total Subaru reliability and great snow performance with separate snows. (The stock RE070s were TERRIFYING in the snow) I loved that car. But I've since had 2 kids and with the car seats, there wasn't any room to carry anything else. I really wish they Still made a Legacy GT wagon, but all wagons are now those stupid outbacks. Which are legacys tarted up with plastic lower body cladding, high suspension and high aspect ratio tires. Garbage. Don |

It takes a bit to boost up and then the turbo gets boosting and boom power is there. Is this essentially like running a 84 or 100 housing on steroids (in terms of what the race car is doing?) |

The bov prevents it from over boosting, and the anti lag is something to prevent or limit turbo lag, is this correct? Yes, to both. Helical gears also put an axial load on the shaft that has to be taken up by the bearing. The normal way of doing this is with a taper roller bearing on each end. If you can get rid of the axial loading, you can go to a cylindrical roller bearing that can take a higher radial load. (there will still be some need for axial positioning / light loading) Depending on the layout, you might get some additional strength out of a different bearing arrangement. |
