Quoted: It's infuriating what this administration is doing to our country. Where is it going to stop? It won't, it's just going to keep getting worse as more and more socialism is shoved down our throats. |

damn, a scrap trucker just schooled everyone on .gov math.
not saying you aren't smart or ragging on your profession. You would just think this sort of scenario would have been caught long before it was presented to you for analysis. FAIL so full of FAIL. |

The Chinese will return all of that scrap one day, just like Japan did in WWII.

I drive a `95 honda civic with 200k miles. I would gladly have paid cash of $2250 for the .gov's $4500 give-away. This is infuriating. Mines a '94. It would not have qualified, nor would I have taken advantage if it did. Its mind boggling. |

Every single one of those is in better condition (and much newer) than any of my vehicles. Same here. Our government at fail. |

Look at all that created wealth. When I get home I'm going to put $20 in my left pocket, take it out, put it in my right pocket and see how much money I have. incorrect. Take that $20 our of your left pocket, cut it in half. Throw one half away and then put the other half in your right pocket. |

Everything the government does is a big stinking pile of shit.

I asked a few questions, They cannot sell the whole vehicle, but can sell all/any parts, except engine, (which is useless, anyway) Define, "whole vehicle". If they just take the engine out of it, then they could sell that, correct?? This is from the guy at my local bone yard (I spend a lot of time there) the engine block cannot be sold except for scrap, accessories on engine can be sold, the rest of the drive-train may be sold, but not as a whole. Everything else except the frame may be sold for re-use, but the engine block and frame are condemned and may not be re-used or sold for any purpose other than recycled metal. After 6 months the remainder MUST be crushed on-site and proof of destruction MUST be provided to the Secretary of State. |

now do they pour a mixture to kill the engine so people don't cheat? This has to be done at the dealer before they can even apply for the money. |

fucking mOron. I did not do the cash for clunkers, I'd rather keep my 94 4x4 burb (runs great); But those Jeeps would have been great grocery getters for the wife and me. WTF?!? mOron!!

Another fricken joke at the expense of the taxpayers, courtesy of our strong central Federal government.

the really sad part of this is that the people who voted for him, think it was a good deal, economically speaking that is, and a GREAT deal for the environment.

History will regard that "program" as one of the greatest boondoggles ever.

In the long run, it probably screwed the american companies because most those cars turned in (besides being practically all american) would have still be on the road for several more years. The manufacturers could have made some money on OEM replacement parts for those cars (and yes I know there are many places you can get replacement parts). Plus now that these are being parted out, that adds to the blow. |
|
So the determination is that we can't go and buy the whole thing less engine, and then put a new engine in the car and register it? Damn, I was hoping to get a vehicle on the cheap out of this.

The sad part is that a lot of folks who can't afford a new car could get a lot of use out of some of these 'clunkers'.

destruction of wealth on an epic level!!!! +1. Plus, turning all those paid for cars into new $25-40K loans that people now have to make payments on. Personally speaking, a number of those cars pictured are better than my (paid for) car. Oh well. Fuck Barack Obama. John |

This is absolutely infuriating!!! I am seething over seeing this. The fucktards in Washington talked people out of their good, domestic vehicles and talked them into trading them for less than they're worth for a piece of shit "gas saving" foreign built plastic wrapped tin can. How many great trail rigs could be built out of those things.
It's time to vote out EVERYONE in Washington. Time to start the fuck over. The assholes in Washington are out of their fucking minds. |

Every one of those appeared in better condition then the cars some of my family drives
|

Disgusting to see cars that could have fulfilled a starved market for quality inexpensive used cars, not to mention the secondary parts market that won't get those pristine parts. The goobermind could have not killed the engines and sold those vehicles to other countries around the world and we could have made a decent amount of $$$.
Just shows how our Gov't isn't qualified to handle used cars, much less our Healtcare. FUCK OBAMA AND THE USELESS GOVERNMENT! |

I thought the parts wouldn't be available to the secondary market? or is this "under the table" since there are no VIN#'s assosciated with parts? |
