I’m laughing because I know deep down this is true.

But with more companies getting into the game making quality product, they may cut into government sales.
(And let’s be honest that’s the only reason they can charge what they do)

Then I’d expect to see an equalization in the market.

No shit. You can have American, or cheap. You can’t have both.

And just because it’s ‘merican doesn’t mean it’ll be quality. Just that it’s built here.

TBH - EPS Carry MRS is around $400+
I can see paying $150 more for USA made. Not sure about $250 more
I suspect once the buying spree fueled by government (local/LE) spending subsides, there will be available for a more reasonable price. We could see $399 at black friday...

I wonder if its built with American-sourced parts and electronics, or Chinese?  If its just about all American-sourced parts (I know the LED is German), then good.  If its the usual Chinese parts "assembled" by Americans, meh.

That’s I think a price that is sustainable. I know PA will have start up - R&D, marketing - costs but once the splash is made and those are amortized out, they’d sell a lot of these at $399 assuming durability/quality.

Not for me, I'll be putting one on a $400 mount that houses a $2500 scope on top of a $2200 rifle.

While I used to think it was ridiculous to pay more for an optic than the gun it's mounted on, buying quality optics has cured me of that notion.

Also, treat yourself to a nice pistol sometime.

I have a bad astigmatism also and cannot use holographic optics at all because of it. I'd be very interested to know how this looks.

Quoted:

I've always had an astigmatism, but it seems to be getting worse as I get older. I tell people I don't have red-dot sights, I have red-amoeba sights.

On the plus side, peep sights still work pretty well, as looking through a small hole mitigates the effect.

I recently bought my first prism sight to see if that would work better for me. I think I made a mistake getting a magnified one, but the aiming point is very clear and distinct.

Prism optics can be used with a cover on the objective lens. Just keep both eyes open and focus on the target. The reticle overlays itself naturally. So even magnified prisms work really for close up work. The PA SLx 3x is great for this but still gives you some mag for distance shooting.

So I got it mounted up. Easy enough. You choose a chassis (MOS, RMR-A, or RMR-B) first. I went with the RMR-A for the RXM. Secure the chassis with 2 screws. Install the optic. There are 2 vertical screws on the front and 2 horizontal screws on the sides. The quick start guide is nice - everything is labeled/color coded and it provides the torque specs and the type of Torx bit needed for each screw. Do NOT over torque those side screws - it looks like aluminum threads for that part.

Attached File

Once installed, it’s rock-solid. There’s already a battery installed from P.A., so it’s ready to rock once mounted. It comes with a battery lid tool, but a coin is easier to use.

The dot is very clear and crisp despite my astigmatism. I adjusted it to full brightness and noticed the typical dot bloom (while indoors), but it was perfectly symmetrical.

Attached File

I am skeptical of the durability of the anodizing - I noticed a couple of tiny scuffs already just from handling/installing it. I have this on a gun I carry, so we’ll see how it holds up.

I love the size - it’s very low profile. Definitely not a BULKY SNAGNET @RustedAce
It’s actually a hair shorter than a Holosun 507C, which is pretty wild considering this is an enclosed emitter optic.

I’ll give another update when I shoot it.

Given that I have read zero articles about said optic, it is a legitimate question.  One which you are apparently not capable of answering without being a prick about it.  Maybe take the 2x4 you have stuck up your ass and remove it.

Tried it out today. Weather was mostly sunny. Despite having the dot turned up a bit, it was super clear and perfectly round. That surprised me. The glass doesn’t have the annoying Trijicon blue tint. By the way, I exclusively used the new Mec-Gar 18-round G19 mags. Those also performed perfectly. I thought they wouldn't because they didn't do well with hand cycling, but they were flawless with live fire.

After zeroing, I cleaned the Ruger RXM, wiped the lenses of the HTX-1, and carried it the rest of the day to test comfort. I carry appendix side inside waistband with no undershirt (jeans and t-shirt). There was zero rubbing from the optic. The Holoson 507C I had on the RXM previously would rub/pinch a little. I had none of that with the HTX-1. The outside edges of the optic bluntly rounded and smooth.

As expected, some of the anodizing is already starting to rub off, but I’m not too concerned about that. Overall, I really like this thing so far. If it continues to do well, I’ll be buying more.

I'm surprised at the lack of new info/reviews on these so far. There must not be too many in the hands of consumers yet from this first batch.

Ian from Forgotten Weapons has a good video from the beginning of the year. I didn't realize that Primary Arms set up a whole new facility and hired a whole group of people just to develop and manufacture this optic. PA really took a gamble and invested a ton of resources into this project. I also want to emphasize that this optic simply isn't "Assembled in the USA" like Sig Optics and others, but every component expect for the LED crystal is actually manufactured in the United States. That's pretty amazing.

Yeah - as a poor, I often buy cheap versions of things to see if I like the idea before committing the funds for a good one. When I was shopping prism sights, I came across a sale on a 5x one with decent reviews for only $60. I tried it out, and it does seem like a good solution, but I don't think I want a magnified one.

Also, the eye relief space is really unforgiving. I have to put my head within a couple of mm of the ideal spot or I can't see shit. I don't know if that's a prism sight issue or a cheap optic issue. It's still usable, but it makes it something I'd only consider for a 'range gun.'

The short focal distance is largely a function of the magnification. Some ACOGs suffer from this as well-it’s a big part of the reason that most people should have bought the 3X TA-33’s or 3X TA-11 instead of the GWOT-bait TA-31’s they bought because they looked like what door-kickers were issued.

I am new to this @ and linking stuff, but below is an LP rear sight replacement for S&W revolvers.  It has a single pic rail slot.
While not as low as other options that adds an RDS platform at the back of the sight, it does have a very nice iron sight, and you
can add a low pic mount plate with the appropriate footprint.  I just added a rds to my 625, and the LP sight is very well made.
