The explosion of welfare spending has more to do with it than police. The police claiming the crown of "reduced crime rates" given their abysmal clearance rates of serious crimes makes that crown nothing more than the paper trinket kids get from Burger King. |

And who are they? The criminals, of course. Is it not also in some cases, liberals, hippies, welfare leeches, obama voters, libertarians, scofflaws, progressives, lenient judges, uneducated juries, stupid drivers, loud cellphone talkers, .07 BAC drivers, dope heads, pro-choicers, and cop haters? In other words, just about everyone else... That isn't the problem at all, the reality is we as a nation rely too heavily on government solutions. Government can't fix anything, never has, never will. At best they can temporarily hide the eyesores, but they still resurface eventually. The problem is government over-involvement. The best way for people to solve their problems is themselves as much as possible. The pertinent point for this thread is cut the number of cops by 90%, reinstill in the people the necessity to take care of almost all of their own problems and security. The Nation will again rise to the occasion, not without some difficulties, but at least we won't have an uncontrollable monster to blame for it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

It will be stopped when the military takes over the police and then they will all be "Military Police" which will make it all ok

Former VP Spiro Agnew: Americans prefer policeman's batons over an anarchist's bombs.
I think the mood to police swings back and forth. After the Boston bombing, the police were very popular. Other times, less so. |

Could we please stop referring to cargo pants. The correct term is "assault pants" or "high capacity pants". When civilians wear them they are called "modern sporting pants" or "regular capacity pants".

I bet that police forces have been equipped and trained in similar ways to military since the dawn of police forces

Quoted: I think just beating this into people's heads would help View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: I think just beating this into people's heads would help 7.Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence. This is the problem that is at the core of the militerization of the police. The public no longer views police in in cargo pants, kevlar helmets, APC's and all the other stuff that cops these days seem to want to use as being on the same side as them. The People no longer see these cops/military people as being an extension of the People. They see them as a force only answerable to the government and not them. You all can laugh it off as much as you like. You can go ahead of make fun of this post as much as you like. But that does not change the truth of the matter. At some point in time, militarerized police will be seen by the People as being nothing more than agents of a government who is at odds with the People. If and when a critical mass of People in the country reach that point, then who knows what the hell is going to happen. |

What's wrong with everyone?
The people that work in government are the angels of our better nature. They have only our best interest at heart, and only wish to care for us. The only people who need fear them are evil, and bad. Good people need not be concerned. Trust them. They are good. They'd never storm your home, shoot your dog, or cage you. If you believe otherwise you're a tinfoil hat nut, or a bad person. |

Its simple. Cops crack down on illegal drug people, illegal drug people arm themselves to fight the police. Pretty simple really. |

I would make an officer dress as an officer. They are not commandos they are peace officers. No more masks and bloused pants. |
