Only the Glock G45 met all the criteria but wasn't chosen.

"However, an overall armaments policy and economic assessment showed that the SIG Sauer P320 model had substantial advantages in relevant areas," Armasuisse wrote.

The SIG Sauer did not fulfil one technical requirement and also led to "non-approval for troop suitability". However, all safety-relevant aspects were assured. The manufacturer has now promised "binding" improvements.

LOL.
They went from the SIG 210, to the SIG P220 for 50 years. Now to the 320...A HUGE step back imho. Hopefully the Swiss Army has a no-loaded-chambers policy and will never have a problem. Its not like Swiss troops are deployed all over the world relying on their pistols...

I'm guessing here but my thoughts are that they required 'Made in Switzerland' would be to have all Swiss precision made parts and assembled by Swiss technicians. Versus shit MIM Indian parts of varying quality/dimensions and some hourly worker hired r/t DEI requirements. I'll further go out on a limb here to state that due to the Swiss parts and labor that the Swiss military will have the same % of UD that Glock would have had.

I'll say the unspoken here. Indian parts are made due to their culture's perception of precision. Just as Plastic Surgery tourists found out the hard way that Indian doctors and Indian nurses in India are not the same as Indian doctors & nurses in the US. They came back home to the USofA with some weird antibiotic resistant shit from the staff washing syringes and surgery implements off in the stream behind the hospital and Lequita Dasha Jackson-Ohumo with 5th grade reading skill and earbud permanently installed blasting whatever at 120 decibels are not as focused on turning out precision tools as the kids of watch makers.

I think the failure rate is actually lower then that. I think it's closer to 1 in 10,000, at a guess.  Which is still UNACCEPTABLY high and way above industry standard.  While I have every confidence a portion of the P320 UD's are false, I also have every confidence a large portion of P320 UD's are also undisclosed.  We only hear about the ones caught on camera or causing an injury.  How many go off where nobody got hit, off camera - and the operator was like "nothing happened, nothing happened today, the gun in my hand neeevvver discharged other than on target nosir nosir; whatchutalkingabout?"

I would guess, now that it's sufficiently documented that Hell Yes they sometimes go off on their own; that a whole lot of unexpected Kabooms never get talked about - much moreso than the false claims - would be my bet.

Except there are numerous videos of dudes not finger banging their guns when they went off, and not all of those were the typical dumbassery of morons using the wrong holster. The sheer number of incidents leads one to believe there is an issue; one that is  difficult to discern, let alone repeat.

Most of the time I'm rare to call out something as a shill account.  Usually the passionately fooled are the best advocates as their identity topic is so embedded they are threatened by and attack that which shows it to be false they've been wrong and a fool this whole time.  and their identity choice of pistol can't possibly be bad, despite new incident after new incident.  The inability to rewiring your belief system and admitting you were wrong, explains a whoooollle lot of shit in life.

But in this case... man.

I'm guessing being able to make them in Switzerland a was big factor, and the Swiss usually like to have their small arms produced locally so they can try to remain neutral as possible.

Add in the fact SIG AG and SIG USA are owned by the same holding company, (and I bet glock was not willing to let them be made in Switzerland) its clear why they chose it. Would they been better off selecting the P365? maybe.

Now will SIG AG make a better quality gun? maybe. Will that fix possible issues? Maybe. Its hard to say exactly why we are seeing P320s going off, manufacturing defects, poor handling, or any combination of them. I do think we see a lot of P320 NDs because it is a pretty popular gun, but so is the Glock, so who knows.

It’s a little odd that the same posters defending Sig suddenly appear in every P320 thread…. Either they’re obsessive in their journey to defend their beloved pistol, or Sig is going balls deep in the PR game and paying shills. Either is possible at this point.

No, it's a fire team.  1 % is your x. 0.01.

Try 50,000 x 0.0001 = 5.

I'm sure those 5 troops won't appreciate carrying a gun made by the lowest bidder.

Math is hard. You just calculated 1%.

100%=1
10%=0.1
1%=0.01
0.01%=0.0001

50,000 x 0.0001 = 5

Or, if you prefer fractions
10%=1/10
1%=1/100
0.01%=1/10,000

50,000/10,000=5
