As a retention NCO in the reserves I just shake my head and chuckle at the snot nosed e4s who think they know it all and are getting out of the reserves as soon as they piss away their gi bill.  At 40 yo I have transfered my gi bill to my kid, an using army tuition assistance to cover whatever school I want and am using tricare for $ 200 a month and saving $300 a month over what my city job offers.  I'll be in the reserves until I qualify for tricare without it.

Very good plan. I would love it if I could have done this. I work in civil service so I was not eligible for tri-care reserve select. I will qualify for the retiree Tricare when I turn 60. So at least I got that going for me. My special needs son, and my wife have some health issues, so I have to have health insurance. If I were single, I would just use the VA since I qualify to be treated there due to my 70% disability rating.

My cousin has 2 kids by a prison dweller and she is a beautician that does nails. Probably brings in 20k per year. Gets housing assistance, heating assistance, electrical, ebt, and federal medical assistance. Lives very well and kids have no needs.

She used to get a 10k tax return every year. Paid in under $100 for the year in federal tax.

Not trying to sound all "black-helicopter-and-tin-foil-hat", but if something like Obamacare doesn't cause enough responsible people in this country to literally move toward overthrowing this government, then we are truly sunk as a free people.  Many would argue that we gave that up long ago on other matters, but anyone with half a brain should see that this administration and just about all of this congress are hellbent on destroying this country and all its values.  Man...I sound like a neckbeard goober making a statement like that, but...

Yes, you get better deals, cause its the same as paying cash, which means the prices you pay are less. Your choice of whatever doctor hospital you want. No networks, denial of care or"we don't pay for that "

Down side, which really isn't is gotta pay out pocket if it's less than a grand for the treatment. But really considering what the OP is going thru, this is a way better option. It's worth looking it over and comparing. And its all about freedom of choice.

Just the monthly cost of my son's medical supplies is almost $9,000 a month. His 24 hour home health nursing care costs over $30,000 a month. Luckily, this is all covered by insurance after the $12,000 max out of pocket is met. It's either what I have now or quit my job and go on welfare and get Medicaid, and we all know how deplorable that is.

It sounds like you are still making out 100x better then most others. At least you spend enough to actually start to use the insurance unlike a huge percentage that pays in the entire year and never comes close to covering the OOP cost so insurance picks up absolutely nothing.

That is not to detract from your sons condition, I'm sure you'd much rather have a healthy son.

The left want everyone to become dependents and this is how they plan to do it. Only the very wealthy or the unemployeed poor will be able to "make things work". Everyone else will not be able to afford children without the "help" of the state.

I really don't understand how some people are getting porked like this and actually able to afford it. My wife is a state employee and her single person blue cross blue shield plan costs her about $20.00 per month. I work for a large corporation and pay about $80.00 monthly for similar coverage. Yes we have large deductibles, but the coverage is OK. My oldest is active duty .mil and the younger is in college. His student health plan, also blue cross blue shield costs about $100.00 per month. It is a much better plan with low deductibles and co-pays. The individual coverages are cheaper for us by far compared to any family plan. I honestly dont know anybody who has benefitted from Obama care or who has been porked to the point where they pay myr effort insurance than their mortgage... I'm sure most folks are esomewhere in the middle with extreme cases on either end... Health insurance and health care in general has sucked long before Obama and it will continue to suck after he is gone and someone "fixes" it...
