That is just a waste of money. You will spend a lot on it, setting it up and getting it running right. You will shoot it a few times then be upset you didn't but a 7-9 inch barrel, then it will sit in your safe or a corner, gathering dust for years. You will never shoot it again. You will then move on to the next great idea you have, which will also be a flop and waste of money. Buy some Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies and watch TV. Be fat and happy. |

Quoted: Mmmm....16" FAL would be very tasty. Have to research those. Are DSA still the go to for those? Had one in the past and loved it. Tried to turn it into a DMR and sold it when it wouldn't perform like I wanted. Should've known better and just left it as a battle rifle. FALs look cool but the ergos SUUUUUUCK. I nstead of building an AR-10, I’d suggesting buying a basic complete 16” and accessorizing it the way you want. That’s what I did and my Armalite has been MUCH more reliable than either the FAL or SOCOM I owned. |

I've got a factory built DSA and a bunch of surplus kit FALs...the surplus kit FALs so far, bore concentricity / flash hider and can concentricity just isn't there Running an alignment rod down the para I was going to use, showed clear contact with baffles and endcaps. I haven't ripped the combo device off the DSA-built gun yet to see if that's good to go yet, but...not sanguine about it.Plus, with a FAL, you're just not going to use it for accuracy stuff. An AR should hold MOA depending on build specs, barrel, etc...but a FAL just isn't going to do that, not without a lot of luck. On the upshot, DSA does sell a specific gas plug for use with suppressors...I have one, I just need to find a gun I can actually put it in that won't destroy the can... |
| OP, the only suggestion that I would make would be to look at other barrels outside of just the Faxon Gunner barrel. I am not saying that the Gunner barrel is a bad barrel. I am saying that I had a 20" Gunner on my AR .308 and got somewhere in the 2.5-3 moa range. Others have gotten better results. I ended up switching out the barrel for a Rainer Arms 20" Ultramatch barrel. I got sub-moa out of the box using match ammo with the Rainier barrel. Yes, there is quite a price difference. I think the Gunner barrel was about $220-230 and the Rainier Ultramatch was a bit north of $450. |

Lots of reports of seriously dinged brass, as well as lots of reports of tight chambers (people popping primers with factory ammo, etc), mediocre at best accuracy - big thread on Sniper's Hide. I'd say it's a work in progress at best... |

It's very nice. If not for the supersonic crack, it would be very hearing safe. The ULT (Ultra Light Tactical) is titanium with stainless and inconel (spelling?) baffles. For the size of it, it only weighs 13 oz. I like it,. |

| I think 16 is about right for a .308, I’d even prefer shorter. But that’s the kind of shooting I’d be using it for and where I feel it shines, not necessarily yours. I didn’t homebuild mine, but I’ve got an MWS and OBR both in 16” and they’re both very nice setups. |
|
Quoted: OP, get an LMT and use whatever barrel you want, when you want. The MWS is a damn nice rifle. It starts off expensive, which isn’t entirely fair since it is very quality, but even then it starts getting a lot cheaper when you factor in the quick pull barrels. My 16” CL turned into a 16” SS and now has a 20” 6.5CM to swap between. They make a host of profiles, calibers, and lengths to make it a very flexible setup. |

Quoted: You can't build a decent ar10 for the price of a ruger sfar. Its a no brainer. ^^ IMO you can’t build a decent AR-10 for the price of a POF Rogue, and the SFAR is cheaper than the Rouge. I think that I will get an SFAR. I can say that the Rogue is literally like carrying an AR-15. It’s a bit snappy but still pretty easy to control for double taps or controlled 7s. I was always a FAL guy, but the Rogue is what the AR10 always should have been. |

Quoted: Those are very interesting rifles. My 10’s are definitely not on the light side. I love my 17 for being a lightweight .308 but the Rogue looks awesome, and the SFAR looks almost as awesome at a very attractive price. Quoted: Quoted: Get a SFAR or ROGUE. It’s set up exactly like my 556 carbine. As a “patrol” carbine it is just about perfect. I have always been a fan of the full sized FAL for my.308 needs. The Rogue is basically an AR15 that shoots .308. No oversized bolt or receivers, 6 pounds empty, it’s a marvel of modern engineering. I have owned several different large frames starting with a DPMS 24” bull barrel back in the early days. They are pigs for what they are. |
