I still ride stupid fast sportbikes but I now stay off dirt bikes.... |

Many times ‘spending the night at Roger’s’ really meant ‘we’re driving down to SDSU, picking up Becky, and partying in Tijuana…’ And maybe sleeping it off on the Beach. Hell, I was going to another country, and my folks had no idea. And it was glorious. Probably wearing corduroy Op shorts, lol. We were the last generation with actual freedom. I got my first dirt bike (MR-50) when I was 7 in 1977. We lived in a neighborhood but us kids turned the only vacant lot into a race track. Most of us had either a dirt bike or go-cart, and helmets were optional. |

A whopping 157 HP and 240 ftlb of torque. What a beast https://i.imgur.com/BaamuGI.jpg I had a 1979 Cobra. Radio delete. Stick. No power anything. TRX wheels. No giant hood decal. In the mid 90's I finally realized just how rare of a car it was. Sadly it started the first 5 years of its life in Ohio. I purchased it right after I graduated bootcamp and took it to NAS Millington and then MCAS El Toro. By 1992/93 the floorpan and A pillar rust had gotten so bad I ended up scrapping the car... I was never a big picture taker. It is one of my biggest regrets. I don't have a single picture of that vehicle. Heck I think I only have like three pictures of me during my time in the USMC and sadly one of those is my Parris Island graduation pic... |

Not caring what other people think...and knowing that it bothers the shit out of them that I don't care. |

At 16 I was assistant manager at the local movie theater. I was the only one who could close up and not be short money. I worked there as a Jr and Sr in high school, 1983/84. I completely managed the local drive in the summer of 1984. Remember those ???? If the movie came out in that era...I have seen it more times than I can remember. LOL...funny memory...my manager at the theater was a huge Ford guy. He had a pretty fast drag car for the era. During the first showing of Romancing The Stone, he comes running out of the theater. "Chris, next showing make sure you watch the beginning of the movie...You'll love it" Yep...the scene with the kid in the Cobra kidnapping the sister. 20+ years later I was able to give him a ride in my Cobra. It was a fucking blast !!!! |

I’m Gen X and I never listened to most of the crap you guys are posting. 80s music to me was Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallic, Slayer, Megadeth, and many others. We had the best concerts, keg and hog roast parties, best lookin women. We kicked ass. Rock-N-Fucking Roll !

Class of 1987.
Was thinking back the other day on what life was like growing up in the 70s and 80s, it was a great time, sad that my children and grandchildren will never know that. At least my oldest loves the rock music of the 70s and 80s. Wife had the 80s big hair, even when we got married in 1990. |
