I have to say it was almost a sad moment when we were done with pictures.
We of course have the model of the 747 and shuttle to hang, so we aren't really done, but even several students said they were sad it was all done. One told me, " it's like we have nothing else to do now.....what do we do?" That's kind of amusing from a teacher's stand point, but I very much understand what he was saying. They've been working their tails off trying to finish the display case on time, and now......it's over. We have dived into our Lion puppet with full vigor. We hope to have it done next week, right before State Art. The article in he paper probably won't be out till the week of the 18th. She emailed me and said she wants to interview a few more students before she's ready. She's also going to interview TopMen and his instructor, which is surely appropriate given the level of work they've put in. |

Update 4/7
New video today. Point of fact, we had a little hiccup this morning.  I went down a little before 8 to catch video of the opening. When I got there there were already a dozen or so kids there waiting for the opening. Other teachers and more students showed, as did TopMen.
At 8, right on time, it opened...... Half way, then stopped.  I watched TopMen's head drop. A little embarrassing. The little bug in the code that TopMen thought was gone was back. It happened again later in the day too, but he figured out where and what was causing it. Because of the math, it wouldn't always present itself on opening. He had an => but needed ==.
He said it was a dumb mistake. Anyway, these are from the afternoon, after the program was fixed. As to the Mission Patches, my order taker/organizer was absent today, so they will have to wait till Monday. The 8am was supposed to go like this..... Updating the mission patch orders....
They all were sent out today, please wait till you receive them before sending funds. When you send funds.. ETA: I'll try to get him to send emails back tomorrow letting you know they shipped. Please send to this address, as the one on the envelope is the district office. PHS Art Guild 1151 E. 7th St. Powell, WY 82435 We have about 25 left out of the 100.

I teach HS Art, and the projects are still on display through out our school. I'm going to try to grab s current video walk through when we get back from State Art. |

Update on the lion puppet we are doing for the play and planning on taking with us to The Wyoming State Art Symposium......
Looks like we are going to have this ready before next week. We had all four feet done this afternoon, with only a few more bark pieces to go before paint. I told the puppeteer/actor he better start hitting the gym with me every night or he's going to be tired.

I noticed that almost every day I see at least one shuttle crew shirt.
Thank you again Arfcom. Kids normally don't wear their club shirts very often, but these shirts are always showing up. Pretty dang cool! Also, I giggled like a little kid this morning when I was down putting up the space shuttle crossing sign and the cargo bay doors opened. 
It's just amazing to watch.

Lions pretty much finished. Drama crew is happy.
This is just the afternoon crew, it took dozens of students to get this finished in such a short time. They are very proud of it. 
We managed to remind the principal that we could really use a garage door, as we had to march this all around the school to get to a double door to get it out to paint.  I should be thankful we aren't cutting positions as a neighboring district is making major cuts next year.  The war on Coal has hit WY hard and Cody school district is taking it in the shorts.

I'm confused on the lion, it looks great, but is it a costume, or a "string puppet"?
If it's a costume, you've got a couple short and super bendy thespians, and if it's a "string puppet", you'll need a few from the football team to articulate it. Or is it for something different? Is it way lighter than it looks? What will cover the "ribs" of the body when on stage, or is that part of the look? Lastly, is the Lion half Ent? |

It's possible the school is putting on a play of "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe", with the part of Aslan being played by two students.
It's also possible it's an original play. And a lion/tree half-breed? You've been reading too much Piers Anthony.
(Although Lois Bujold did have the Cetagandans creating a kitten tree..."Grow your own guard animals", maybe?) |

It's not nearly as heavy as it looks, and with people under it, it stands on its own legs fairly easily. There is no cover on the ribs, it is supposed to be skeletonish/old/stylized /tree lionish.
