How bad do you think things would be if it weren't for the Second Amendment?
Look, wars are bad and a lot of people suffer and die. And in a civil war it is likely that other nations, like China, would get involved and that would be the end of that. Most people understand this. They also understand that post civil war/revolutionary governments are often worse than the one they replaced. Americans still have it quite good on a historical level and no one with any sense wants that to change... So we arm ourselves and train because that imposes at least some limits on how far we can be pushed. Then we try to fight back through the political process and, believe it or not, we are getting some victories. |

It kicks in the same as it did in 1776, as the very last resort when all other avenues were found to be hopeless, those usual options are how you make easy, safe fixes to return normal, correct operation, like replacing bad spark plugs, or putting a new roof on your house, or fumagating your house to kill roaches / rats.
that other last resort option, is the nuclear option, because once you use that option, your not doing safe easy fixes, your basically burning the entire house down, maybe your entire neighborhood, city , or even state to kill those same roaches, and massive death and destruction accompanies that option. Plus, you might not even succeed, and what comes out the other side might well be 1000x worse than what you were trying to fix. |
