[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Slovak SBRs anybody? Grand Power STRIBOG pistol to be imported to US UPDATE 18APR19 (Page 14 of 23)
| One thing that need some work is the design of the hand guard extension I've seen on some 16 inch PCC guns. The one I've seen on guns used in Europe on youtube are simply awkward and ugly. SURELY, someone will come up with something more aesthetically pleasing. I want an A3 when they get here. |
That's Rob Pincus:

Very nice

Only known video comparison of the regular blow back vs roller delay https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XoN4viUWiXI
If the A3 comes out this year, I’ll might get it too. Would love shoot then side-by-side. I do believe that the advantages of delayed-roller blowback in semi-autos are overrated. Select fire is obviously a totally different story. |

Quoted:
Kinda unfair, that A3 also has a big old compensator on it.

Who has the best price on the A1 right now? |
|
Quoted:
It's a tough market between Ruger, CZ, B&T, Sig, AR's and MP5 clones. Prices vary across the board, but there wasmt anything on the ARs and CZ price tange till Ruger. So that market is filling rapidly. It better be priced right. |

Quoted: Same here. Are you having an issue with binding? Corresponding now with HBI on a few options, but their customer support has been great so far. They posted a YouTube video on how to install, and Inwas shocked how well there guns just went together and parts moved freely, everything about mine is almost too tight, nothing is free moving, I’m assuming it’s an assembly line thing https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CtT53kcoMUE |
|
Quoted: I had a call with them today, very good info, they only had a sample size of 3 to work with and noted that my serial number is similar to another person’s who had the issue, right now the fix looks to be that they are sending parts my way prior to nitiriding to see if it fits They posted a YouTube video on how to install, and Inwas shocked how well there guns just went together and parts moved freely, everything about mine is almost too tight, nothing is free moving, I’m assuming it’s an assembly line thing https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CtT53kcoMUE As you said, the ease with which everything came together in video was unexpected based on my experience. Even the HBI carrier by itself was too tight to move freely. On the upside, they’ve been extremely responsive and I have no doubt they’ll make it right. Here’s hoping, as the solution looks solid... |

Hopefully you talk to Phil as well, he’s a cool dude I’m expecting new parts on Friday to test out, we’ll see how it goes My serial is GBA57xx I’m wondering if something small changed in the production units after the sample units HBI is using. My serial is also GBA57XX and I can’t believe that’s a coincidence. I just picked mine up in the last couple weeks, but I don’t know what the production date/serial relationship is, so who knows when they were built. |
| I IM'ed Jaro and gave him the link to this page, along with a description of the problem. Please realize he's a busy guy, and may not personally address this because this is with an after-market product, but we'll see. I believe he is supportive of Safety Harbor's efforts, and the more US-made parts for 922(r) compliance for SBRs, the better. |
|
I'm anxiously awaiting an A3.
But what's this about Global Imports? Global has product pages for virtually every Grand Power product, not just the Stribog. Is Eagle Imports no longer the importer of GP? Eagle still has a full website for their GP products and accessories. ETA: Oh. I guess Eagle isn't importing GP anymore and are dumping support for the pistols on Grand Power in Slovakia. I don't understand how that's going to work for pistol service, I can't ship or receive a pistol internationally. https://grandpower.eagleimportsinc.com/ Uh. That's unpleasant. |

But if it’s not too different from day an Uzi mag with minor mods, that could be the ticket |

I had asked Jaro about changes in dimensions, and he said there had been no dimension change. I told him I hoped HBI and SHF can make enough American parts to satisfy the legal requirements for folks wanting to make theirs SBRs. Still not sure what the issue is, but hopefully the new HBI parts will arrive tomorrow and I can see if anything jumps out as being different. I will say that the Safety Harbor picatinny end plate is absolutely perfect - nice and tight, with zero play or slop. Really looking forward to getting everything together and seeing how she shoots. |

Note the complete lack of factory 30rd mags currently available. This is why I said a Glock mag lower would be crucial to really taking on the Scorpion in the US. Good news is that the upper is the registered firearm so a US company could make a Glock lower with other modular features if it wanted to My new HBI parts are coming in tomorrow, fingers crossed they are good to go |

GP’s owner noted that he does not want to support a direct competitor, however, realpolitik speaking, Glock has saturated the US market for decades, so I believe it only makes sense if not for only the US market to create one Good news is that the upper is the registered firearm so a US company could make a Glock lower with other modular features if it wanted to My new HBI parts are coming in tomorrow, fingers crossed they are good to go Quoted:

Jaro's Glock lower is in the works. It may be a while, and it will also have to go through ATF approval. He's got the IWA trade show and the Army's SCWS contract bid on the front burner right now. This is now a must have in case imports get restricted, although I like the stick mag better |

Finally got a chance to pick up my Stribog yesterday and the HBI Kit was waiting on the stoop when I got home! Took about an hour to install, but I don’t have a vise, so I got creative with a 2X4 and a rubber mallet. Definitely watch the HBI instructional video and be prepared for some pretty tight tolerances. This thing is NOT a stock AR, these parts are TIGHT. That said, it wasn’t really too difficult to install.
Definitely tighter than the factory bolt, but charges just fine and seems really well built. Fairly confident that after pumping a few hundred rounds through it, it’ll break in nicely. |

Mags go in and out of stock. Probably going to be a little scarce for a while with the importer switch. I got mine from Top Shot Firearms last week. Two 30 rounders for $45 shipped.
Honestly, at this point, I’d just hold out for the metal feed lip version in production. At the very least, the plastic ones will probably drop significantly in price. Let me just say that I’m so glad it uses these mags and not Glock mags. Sorry, the price difference for 30 round Glock mags is negligible. They already share the same caliber; does it have to be the same mags too? I know there’s examples now of reliable Glock mags fed sub guns, but the double feed is inherently more reliable in adverse conditions. It’s the reason the brits made that change when they upgraded from Sten to Sterling and the reason nearly every serious sub gun from WWII on uses it. Wasn’t that the MP-40s fatal flaw? Worked fine in the cities of France and Poland, but as soon as they took them to a Russian winter, those single feed mags rendered worthless an otherwise excellent gun. |

Stribog mags are essentially enlarged Uzi/Colt SMG mags. There's video out there showing the use of 'sleeves' around Uzi mags to make them work in the Stribog. A mag well adapter could prob be made easily enough to do the same for Colts. Quoted:

Quoted: Exactly (on the double feed). Even Scorpion mags (from Magpul) would be a solution that would get many more on board while not changing anything significantly. |

Replacement HBI bolt parts did not work today Getting a bit frustrated, but letting HBI address it first |

Jaro's Glock lower is in the works. It may be a while, and it will also have to go through ATF approval. He's got the IWA trade show and the Army's SCWS contract bid on the front burner right now. There's a number of fine pistol caliber carbines / sub guns already on the market, almost all of which have more name recognition (and are easier to pronounce) plus have more aftermarket support. But, a PCC that takes Glock mags, has a folding stock, and is under $1000? Thats a incredibly desirable weapon that dosn't yet exist on the market. |
|
Quoted: Finally got a chance to try to install my HBI kit yesterday. Or at least try to install, it is a no go. Bolt to Carrier fit is too tight. I was able to hammer it in but then it would not allow the bolt to align properly. Bolt was actually at a slight angle (not parallel to the carrier). Non reciprocating delrin piece was also an issue. The charging handle hole was too small causing a very tight fit and the hole was too high which caused the charging handle to drag along the top of the slot. I am going got reach out to them tomorrow. Question, are the first two numbers on your serial number 57 by any chance? |
