Well it looks like Calyx for me until Verizon is available in my area. Visible screwed up my order, and having no phone number, only chat or Facebook for comms, I decided to pass after three days of trying to straighten things out. Numerous complaints on BBB as well. Hurry up Elon.

So far I'm enjoying Starlink.
Perhaps ten times a day it loses signal for under ten seconds - usually more like 1-2 seconds. This is better than cellular internet has been. I'm consistently seeing 70-145 Mbps - usually on the upper end. With cellular I was seeing 8-10 Mbps with random spikes of up to 50 Mbps for short periods. My ping has been under 45 ms every time I've tested it. Cellular ping was generally 50+ ms and at times it was 200 ms. The antenna doesn't have a detachable or armored cable so I had to buy and attach some cable-guard to it. Rabbits were my main concern - they love chewing cables here! I don't have to shovel or brush snow off of it either - turns out that this setup has power over ethernet not just for the tracking of the antenna but also for a built-in heater. Nice. The initial cost wasn't too terrible. Comparable to the M1 Nighthawk modem and setup costs from cellular providers. $100 per month for service is also comparable - at least it is in my area. Overall I'm impressed. If this service keeps as it has been or improves then I'll be happy. |

I assume it is from unresponsive satalites messing up the constellation. From what I understand it has to do more with the incomplete nature of the constellation so far. As it's fleshed out there will be less blank spots and shorter service interruptions - until it reaches the point where everything overlaps everywhere and there's no more blips. At that point there will also be quite a bit of redundancy. Right now it's running with just above the bare minimum for a very small band of land. That's why it's a beta test. |

All I did was plug it all in and that was that. No idea on how much bandwidth the present constellation can handle - but I do know that when asked they'll happily tell you how it will be able to be expanded to the point that every person on Earth could use it at high speeds. From what I've read and heard they plan to expand it until demand is met. |

For about ten minutes the network was unable to be found by my antenna. Other than that blip I've been online 24/7 since about ten seconds after it was all plugged in. That's a lot less down time than anything else I've ever tried here. Traditional satellite. DSL. Traditional dial-up. About half a dozen cellular providers. I'm still quite impressed with this beta. If it improves in any facet I won't ever want to give it up - it's not like fiber will be a realistic option for me any time soon. |

I set everything up at the house and for a solid week I had crap internet max 8mbps down and.5 up and that was intermittent. I went to call and see about fixing it Saturday night and did a speed test before I called and low and behold I got 45mbps down and 20up. You're going to want to look into "repairing" the IMEI of your nighthawk to match that of an iPad, as most carriers have been killing sims in non-approved devices. AT&T took out most tablet plans using a nighthawk probably about 6-8 months ago when they purged a bunch of their iPad plan users.
Mind you, you can still DO it, it's just a question of how long until at&t locks the sim unless you modify the IMEI to that of an approved device (generally an ipad). Its not hard, search for a program or service offering to "repair" your imei. |
