I met a few black people in Britain, and it was an eye-opening experience. They speak with a British accent, identical to a white persons accent, and they dont want to kill whitey. They arent pissed off about being enslaved 150 years ago. The point I'm trying to make is that black culture in this country has some serious hangups directed at white people, and its only making problems worse for them because white people ARE afraid of them. I just took a geography course last semester and learned about the whole phenomenon of "white flight" and how it has been one of the biggest influences on American society and stuff. White people can't be a little afraid of blacks and also be %100 trusting at the same time. I dont know what our country is going to do to get totally over this thing. Well not Im ranting. Actually I have witnessed and been part of many road rage incidents where the higher percentage are white people than black people.
And I live in the St. Louis area. Whitey could have just as easily gotten out of his car and kicked the shit out of both of you. Would the color of your skin make a difference to him? Or some little crippled up granny could have walked up to your car and blasted both of you with a .44 Magnum. There are more people, psychos, and freaks that do not know how to control their emotions and anger running around today than you can ever imagine. If you like the increased odds that are not in your favor, then keep on playing the game. I hear what happens to people like you on the news almost every day, somewhere in this country. Its all a matter of being in the right place at the right time. And sooner or later it is going to happen to you, especially if you provoke the situation. Hell, you can drive somewhere and you do not even have to provoke them and sooner or later you are going to piss someone off. You guys created the whole problem right from the start. Quit your damn whiney ass crying, and be men, better yet, be civilized men. If you 2 little girls were scared of 1 man, then heaven help both of you through this journey we call life. Do not start shit that you can not finish. And all you simple minded asses that think you can always pull out your gun to equalize your problems, your going to be the reasons that the 2nd amendment will be abolished. |

It's a great source of info on the carrying of a concealed weapon here...and it very carefully explains when you can shoot and when you should NOT. -Have your cell phone on and ready. Driving away and remaining as passive as possible was the best tactic. It is even more important if you are ever armed, since you now have someone's life in your hands. Finally, of course race played a part in this...but so what. You need to be prepared for this sort of thing. [soapbox] Virginia must have some very strange laws then. In the rest of the US, a passenger in a vheicle cannot be held responsible for something the driver did. Drivers, however are responsible for what their passengers do. It was not Chucks fault that his brother started the problem. He wasn't driving. To prosecute Chuck for a shooting they would have to prove that he was in some way responsible for instigating the fight. Or that he and his brother conspired to entrap someone. Or that they had never been just minding their own business but had really been crusing for someone to shoot. |

Slowing down is absolutly the best thing you can do for a tailgater. He will have incentive to pass. Slowing down/speeding up slowing down repeatedly would be silly.

Hmmm, I've had several road rage incidents. One of the more entertaining ones happened a few years ago. Some jackass runs a stop sign causing me to slam on brakes to avpid hitting him. He get's pissed when I honked at him and stops. His car is blocking my path and he gets out looking to kick some ass. I proceed to slam the gas stopping just short of crushing him against his car. Sure was nice to see that tough guy facial expression melt away. He gets in his car and leaves. Never forget that a car is a deadly weapon; more deadly than a gun. If the situation warrants it, use your car as a weapon. Given then number of unprovoked road rage incidents I seen and experience lately, I think its about time to get my CCW just so I can drive with a gun.

Call it what you will, but in situations such as this it is both a wise move, and the legal requirement, to make every reasonable attempt to retreat from the danger...please note that I said "reasonable". In the final analysis, guess who will decide...after the fact...just what was "reasonable"? The legal standard for dfending yourself on the street is not the same as doing so in your own home. For those who have never seen it in action up close and personal, the "justice" system is a fickle, quirky Bitch that can turn on you in a second.
You think you are going to be hailed as a Hero? You think the police, the prosecutors and the Grand Jury are all gonna think you are wonderful? You think the newspapers and television stations are going to be praising your manly behavior for "refusing to be a victim"? Most likely NOT. Clue...this is the kind of case that can launch a prosecutor into big time politics. There will be real blood on the street...real cops showing up on scene with guns drawn...real detectives asking serious questions to which you had better have some real good answers. Yeah, you can refuse to speak without your lawyer present, but you ain't going anywhere except into a holding cell until he gets there, and almost certainly won't be released until you have seen a judge. There will be real consequences for your actions in many ways, not all having to do with the legal system, although there is where it will start. The bills from your attorney for his/her work on the potential criminal and civil actions alone may be enough to bankrupt you. You very probably will lose your job, possibly your home, there is a strong possibility for divorce, and your kids may lose their chances for college. The "fallout" from an incident such as this can...and often does...last for years. None of it is very good. Oh yeah, a "Road Rage" shooting with "Racist" overtones is JUST what you should be itching to get involved in! Even better...light the guy up with an "assault rifle" when he is unarmed! A few tips...whoever makes the first call to 911 is usually considered by responding officers, at least upon arrival, to be the "victim"...carry a cell phone and be sure YOU make that first call; try to use some sort of lower level of force such as pepper spray before you escalate to firearms; verbalize..."get away"..."stop"..."stay back"...etc. Be sure witnesses (and there WILL be witnesses!) hear you making the effort to resolve things without violence. Play for your audience...you will be glad you did. The only thing worse than being involved in something like this that ends in a shooting...even a justified one...is being involved in it and not surviving. |
